Various chat stuff...

I think Bain in the two deep is a product of some freshmen not being ready and the fact that Bain has played in games before.

Starting OL prediction for Saturday
Left to right...

Trey Smith
Jamir Johnson
Kennedy
Ryan Johnson
Drew Richmond

Jamir Johnson at G?
He's not that light but we'll see if he lasts at guard down the road. Johnson has made a strong move over the last 10-12 days, but not sure inside is his ultimate destination, especially when it comes to SEC play.

Everything quiet recruiting wise?

Things will get heated up after Sept. 1 when the dead period ends.

Question asking which units improved over last year, simonton said push for WR and ILB, and the OP questioned that.

Both absolutely could be better, especially WR with better coaching. But health is also a factor here. Of the two, I'm more confident in improvement in WRs, with guys like Palmer or Murphy making a jump this fall.

Kane Patterson and Darnell Wright?

I think the Vols are at the top with Wright. I think with Patterson the question is given 20 current commitments where is he on the Vols board right now.

That's a bit surprising to me.

This is the best I've felt about a Tennessee offensive line in a very long time. I usually end up getting snakebitten when I get those feelings, but if that unit can can stay relatively healthy, we will have the foundation for our offense ready and hopefully we can see JG (provided he's the starter) take a big step up this year.

Since about 2012?

The coaches wanted Patterson. It will be interesting to see if they still want him enough to lose a current recruit.

So what you're saying is our offensive line is going to suck?

As of now the only player with rumblings to flip is Cox. Harris has possible grade issues. All the commits now obviously won't sign and a few might be processed.

we may get a slight break on the weather, scattered showers, high of 88 as of last night. so it may not be a brutally hot day with a scorching sun all afternoon. will be hot, but should have some clouds to break things up a bit.

Curious how the Johnsons do at guard. I like JJ a lot but didn't expect him to be contributing this early. However if he has a solid grasp of the playbook and schemes, it could be a very pleasant surprise.

BTW, I picked up some Dash over the past couple weeks. Up 25% today. Entire crypto portfolio has been on fire since yesterday. Alts are finally getting that inflow of money once BTC closed with that giant Harami candlestick last Wednesday.

I’m excited for Saturday but I must confess it is the least excited I’ve been for an opener in a long time. Not sure why. The 4-8 season, subsequent coaching search debacle, the dud recruiting finish, and the fact that the usual suspects (Bama, Clemson, etc) are picked to go to the playoffs has me a little ho hum.

That plus there is really no buzz at all about our team.

Really? I'm jacked! Past is the past, couldn't care less about last season, other teams hype, or a lack of preseason "buzz" around Tennessee. I'm ready to see what this badass coaching staff is able to get out of these guys in Charlotte. I can't wait to see the toughness on the field and the in game adjustments at halftime. But I think I'm most excited about watching this team progress throughout the season. No question about it this team will be much different and much better from game 1 to game 12. REALLY looking forward to watching it all unfold.

I truly believe we're going to punch WVU in the mouth early and often and be able to control the clock with a kneel down in the 4th. Talking heads are going to spin with the results and UT will be the talk of the SEC this time next week.
