If it's in the NCAA clearinghouse hands at this point it really doesn't add up that worst case is an acedemic RS. If that was the case he would already be here in class imo.

Maybe this last retake class put him into at worst that category but I don't see waiting on the clearinghouse to enroll in classes since you say he's good with UT admissions

morning folks-- I know they are taking it slow with Hall, reading they probably will wait until the FL game to release him, but does anyone have specifics on Kirkland? I know his knee was dinged up last week, but I haven't heard/read anything else and now folks are saying he may be in the same boat as Hall? Thanks

It would be no different with me. I was certainly not defending Urban, but I was in a wait and see mode and not jumping to conclusions. With all the new information about sex toys, pictures, Urban claiming to not seen the texts to his wife, etc coming out...he should definitely be fired and it would be no different here. There is no way he didn't know any of this. The fact that Urban is still a coach this morning at any university is a travesty.

Probably similar. But fan response isn't as important as administration response in this issue. I expect fans to defend him. I don't think it's appropriate for the BoT.

It’s hard to explain to folks down here in south Florida what small town football is really like, especially back then. I very clearly remember as a kid town shutting down on Friday after 5, and butcher paper banners covering every wall in the town square. From my house about 1/2-3/4 of a mile away you could hear the train horn every time the warriors scored, and when Eric Westmorland was there- it was a lot. Good days back then, the only “fast food” joint was the dairy bar, and one stoplight was good enough.

I haven't heard anybody say the NCAA is currently processing his file. The holdup has been Peterson completing what he needs to qualify and that's taking considerably longer than anticipated. Unless the NCAA places it under review, it's a short process. But he'll need to be ruled eligible to enroll as a scholarship athlete.

The JJ issue is NCAA eligibility. UT doesn't require all 16 core courses like the NCAA does and UT uses a different methodology to calculate core GPA. He meets UT's admission standards. Once the NCAA qualifies him, he has to enroll in the minimum number of courses to play and that will be handled quickly. Student athletes always have to schedule classes around practice and travel, so cooperation between academics and athletics is routine.

So I take it he can actually enroll, just not be eligible to play right away.

Everyday he's been on the sideline during the open to media portion for individual drills, Simonton has said that while the media was leaving DKj was leaving the sideline to go join the team portion of practice. To me, that sounds like he's still practicing but they are managing his reps. Which aligns with Pruitts comments that he's fine just managing reps.

I keep reading mixed reports on Kirkland, I honestly think the staff is messing around with the media in these open sessions. Seems odd that they would waste energy on it- but if anyone needs a competitive advantage early this year, it’s us.

DKJr is limited in practice. They eased him back and are resting him during some of the drills to prevent further injury. They did the same with JJ, limiting him as a precaution.

I always check out the practice thread in FF. I actually sneak in and fast as I can over there and then get shots before coming back to RF so I don't bring any communicable disease's over here. Anyway, just had a question come to mind and I knew I could depend on my RF bros for some insight. I was reading where Brandon Davis and Shawn Shamburger are working with Safeties. With the lack of depth at CB and thought Shawn played CB last year, why we don't have more of these guys working at CB. I thought Safety was a position that we did have depth in. I know there are different measurable's and some are more suited for Safety than CB's but again considering the lack of depth at that position. Has the depth gotten better and I just haven't seem noticed it? Thank you and I'll hang up and listen.

Just speculation here. It seems like Pruitt wants his STAR(nickleback) position trained with the safeties and not with the CBs.

He can't enroll as a scholarship athlete until he's NCAA-qualifed (either a full qualifier or academic RS). He can enroll as a regular student upon admission. IDT anyone knows his current status other than the coaches.

So he would have to pay out of pocket until he's NCAA eligible?

Thanks-- I guess we won't really know whether or not he and JJ will play in the WV until that week... Hoping all is good with them both and Hall is able to get on the field sooner than later.

Yes. I actually think Pruitt seems pretty happy with the progress of the secondary. But to answer yer question there is a ton of cross training. Shamburger is projected to start as the Star. But I think the guys Pruitt wants to have available at Star will get a lot of cross training at CB and Safety. Because there are elements of both in the Star. In other words I believe that this will be normal regardless of depth. Pruitt has said many times he wants guys to be able to play anywhere in the secondary.
