It's a huge problem. The days of king coal are gone... but WV is so married to coal severance taxes that everything is dependent upon it. Southern WV is like a third world country. But, on the other hand, if you enjoy the outdoors and want to retire to a beautiful place with a low crime rate and low property taxes WV is it. I just signed a contract to buy a house on 8 acres of land for an absurdly low price.

If you want that "upgraded hunting cabin" just check the obits in southern WV.

Fact: There are four deer for every person in WV.

Thanks for being a stand up guy, WV is a beautiful place and not so different from East Tennessee. WV and Tennessee are both part of the beautiful Appalacian mountains, the oldest mountains on Earth.
Good luck to WV on game day and may the best team win, unfortunately WV has the advantage with talent, something I hate to admitt.
The last decade hasn't been kind to the Vols save for a couple of 9 win seasons, but we're trying to battle our way back to the days where Tennessee was once feared on the gridiron.
Thanks for being a classy guy on our beloved Vol Nation.
Go Vols

As a West Virginia fan, I really need this guy to come back on and tell me why he thinks our 3 star 4th string Freshman RB could be better than Steve Slaton. Why our deep threat and bama transfer who hasn't played a down for us yet are better than our All American WR. Why he thinks Darius Stills was a Blue Chip Recruit. Why he thinks Grier rarely makes bad throws or bad reads. Why he thinks our roster is so good that we may never have a roster this good again. Why he thinks Kenny Bigelow is an NFL talent.

I'm honestly flabbergasted by all of these opinions.

It's the kool aide they're selling at wal mart up here, and they've spiked the Mountain Dew as well!

If your offense is so good, how did y'all lose the 3 games without Grier? Why couldn't you just plug in next man up with all that supporting cast?

How did you lose the 3 games WITH Grier? How many INTs did he have last year? (More than one in any game?) How many sacks? What was his yards rushing?

Yes, I did try to look up stats on y'all's site but it was not straight-forward, they just showed team totals for the season and a puff piece on WG.

Lastly, do agree that it's OK to take PED's against some teams but not against others? That its perfectly fine, as long as you don't get caught?

Mizzou is an SEC outsider just as much as West Virginia is an outsider among the Big 12.

You know, maybe the smartest thing for everyone concerned would be for the SEC and B12 to simply swap. We get the Mountaineers, and they can have Mizzou. Everyone fits better, everyone's happier, and we don't even have to juggle around the divisions of the SEC. It just fits.

45-24? I'm gonna take that bet. Much respect to your team. But have you really done a detailed look into how we went 4-8 last year? Have you researched the run yards we had last year vs how many run yards you're team gave up? I think you are looking at your team with WV glasses, which I understand. But really, you have to see the real talent we have that was just under developed and used wrong under CBJ. Do you really think a defensive mind like Jeremy Pruitt would allow us to have a shoot out with you? Hmmm, ok. I really think you should take a step back. I read on you're guys forums the complaint of all the passing and that the problem is if they go too fast. The SEC doesn't have that problem. Again, much respect, but I think the score will be different than you predict. Be ready for our run game.

Our backup QB was extremely bad. He literally quit football after the season. We became a Wildcat offense in the last 3 games, and without the passing element, we just couldn't move ball. Not to mention, the D could not stop Utah and had no chance against Oklahoma. I don't really understand the question, though. Losing a top 10 QB in the Nation is going to have a drastic effect on any offense. Especially one that thrives on downfield passing and when you're QB goes out and is replaced with someone who has no business being on a D1 roster, it's going to be a big deal.

We lost to VT because we just lost. it was a great, back and forth slug fest that we just lost. I could say Grier was visibly rusty/nervous in the 1st half, but that's not a justifiable excuse. The TCU game, we got a pretty bogus OPI called against us on the game tying drive, that obviously hurt badly. But overall, TCU just controlled the clock and field position the entire game. Threw in some trick plays and held on to beat us. Grier and the offense were just flat out terrible against Oklahoma State. They just flat out beat our faces in.

I don't give a **** about PED's in football, and I especially don't care about a QB taking PED's.

cfbstats.com - Will Grier 2017 Player Statistics - West Virginia Mountaineers

Lose 3 games with Grier because their defense is terrible. Grier had two multi-INT games: Oklahoma State (4, compared to 2 TDs) and Kansas State (2, compared to 4 TD's)

Grier had 63 total "rushing attempts" for 122 yards and 2 TDs.. remember, sacks are tied into rushing status for a QB. According to ESPN he was sacked 14 times, and it looks like a significant number of them came against Texas Tech(!), where his "rushing" stats were 7 for -36 and a long of 2, no rushing TDs.

My only concern with PED usage is that it makes players not only stronger and bigger, but more fragile (at least if we're talking steroids). Definitely a safety issue, but does it really pose a safety issue at the QB position? Not unless you're the Pillsbury Throwboy.

I think this is a bad matchup for Tennessee. WVU is full of talented veterans. Tennessee is playing new schemes on both sides of the ball. A QB in the second year running Dana's offense usually sees a huge uptick on production.

I really think this is the most talent WVU has had in the history of the program.

This is a pretty bold statement to me....I think this current WVU team isn't anywhere close to being as good as the 2005 and 2007 teams....

You guys may very well beat us--I don't know....but your wins last year weren't exactly impressive at all....The only game that I watched over 90% of last year was the Iowa State game....and they very well could've beaten you at WVU that day with a few breaks...

K-State, V. Tech, Texas, Iowa State, and Utah found ways to pretty much shut down your offense...plenty of film to study for Pruitt to get a very good game plan to defend against you....and even Baylor found a way to hang 36 points on you.....

Why do you really think this WVU team is the best you've ever seen?

What’s the biggest match ups you’re watching in this game? Ex. Tennessee’s OL vs WVU DL etc.

Is WV intimidated that they have no real info on TN? New coach, scheme, even some players, but no direct game film of this team to compare to the past, whereas TN knows what WV is all about. Sure you can watch Bama's defense from last year or Bowling Green and USC's offense but it was not this team playing on film....see what I mean?

They have and that's hard to do considering the amount of money they have.

My theory is that Texas HS players don't have much a ceiling. Their talent is maximized by their senior year of HS and there's no growth.

You keep throwing out high money programs. Tennessee has been number one in the country over Texas and Alabama for 2 of the 3 last years at least with around ~$120 million. And pretty sure top 5 for decades. Just because you have a lot of money doesn’t mean your administration is smart enough to hire a good coach if Dana is gone. See us for the last 10 years

I would be more concerned if this were game #5 than game #1 because WVU will never have the depth of an SEC team.

Given what WVU has on offense, given that the defense is finally healthy and for the first time in the history of the program has 8 DL who can play... I see WVU winning by more than 10.

WVU has a habit of getting up big and going to sleep. That's both natural but it shows the drop off in talent between WVU's first and second teams.
You weren’t breathing during the Major Harris years, huh?

What is your thoughts on WV’s betting line at most Vegas books being 7 wins this year? They always make money so usually they think you will win one more or less than that. You guys are a proven commodity or known entity. In fairness we are probably picked to win 5 or 6. But if this is your most talented team in history would think you guys would be on the line for at least 9-10 wins

I don't have a sister, but if I did take a look at my photo and you would have the answer. She would be considered butt ugly by the majority but far too pretty for you I bet.

Just kidding...

Some advice... before you start making incest jokes about WV I would compare the incest rates for WV and Tenn.

Fact: Kentucky has the highest reported incest rates.
According to this map. It's WV
