and by now 1/4 of Volnation has turned on Pruitt; we will have to listen to their “told ya so” antics for the remainder of his tenure every time something remotely bad happens)

This is what I fear.

Pruitt is going to flubb up at some point. He's going to burn a time-out he shouldn't or do something equally as offensive in hindsight, but it'll be unclear in the moment. Fans, in their ultimate armchair knowledge, must realize that he's a first time head coach and will need to make allowances for low-level stuff, even if it costs us a game or two in the first couple years.

So everyone wants to compare Pruitt to Kirby. That comparison is easy, but I think there's a comparison that folks may be missing out on, one that's not quite as easy...

Gus at Auburn. I get that he's an offensive guy, and that he was OC for Auburn in the Cam Newton title year. But look at that Auburn team, being so disenchanted with Chizik, going 3-9 after the success they had, and then buying back in with a guy they knew to be proven. Gus and Kirby are definitely different schools of thought, and I'm not saying we go 15-0, but who's to say we can't have a surprise turnaround this year?

Or it means we’re doing something right and the bandwagon idiots have put their Bama hats back in the drawer with their Florida hats while letting all of us know they know more about football than errybody.

We all know this person. Every f@&&ing one of us has had to deal with this person for a decade.

Guz had also been at Auburn for three years just a year before he became the HC and had recruited most of the offense.

I really don't know where we went with this.

Could be simply because Z. Smith is Earle Smith's Bruce’s grandson. McMurphy brought that up yesterday in an interview. Smith seemed to play by a different set of rules at tOSU than anyone else in staff.
Only because Urban revered him. Buckeyes don’t consider Bruce a beloved figure.

I'm not sure how much stock you guys put into Vegas lines...but if we are favored at home against Florida and find a way to lose that game then Pruitt will and should have a very very short leash.

I've been predicting a W against Florida and continue to feel confident about the match-up. I don't want to consider the prospect of losing and the ramifications thereof until we're three weeks into the season, though.

Here’s how I see the season going. This team is more talented than 2010 and 2013, but it was built for a different offense and defense, and there are many key players (Richmond, Kongbo, Kirkland, Jennings, Chance) that are either coming off injury or have underperformed in their careers. Saban and Smart both struggled in year 1, and I see no reason why Pruitt would do better than them.

WVU - L (by ~7)

ETSU - W

UTEP - W (this will be our sluggish, closer than expected game against weak competition game - 1/8 of VN turns on Pruitt forever)

UF - W (I think this is Pruitt’s signature win; comes down to final play - still not sure we have what it takes to win this but Pruitt will get a big win this year and this is likely it)

UGA - L (by 14+)

AU - L (by 14+)

UA - L (Pruitt finds a way to make this competitive but they wear us down)

USCe - L (close - and by now 1/4 of Volnation has turned on Pruitt; we will have to listen to their “told ya so” antics for the remainder of his tenure every time something remotely bad happens)

Charlotte - W (Sluggish, but we ultimately dust these guys)

UK - W (we start to find our groove and by the second half we are destroying them)

Mizzou - L (Pruitt will have one completely inexplicable loss this year - new coaches geberally do - this seems the likely choice)

Vandy - W (Season hangs in balance and we squeak this one out in an ugly game won by 3 points)

Bowl - We win and the vast majority of Volnation is pleased. The miserable 1/4 spends the entire offseason telling us why Pruitt stinks.

Recruiting class finishes top 15 (close to 10), providing fuel for both the optimists and pessimists.

100% accurate. Except I’m not sure we hang with Bama... every other word is on cue

I see some asking how the latest Zach Smith info is relevant. I'm sure Ohio State has some policy on receiving personal items on university grounds and the obvious policy of having extracurricular relations on university grounds. It further buries Urban Meyer in that all of this happened under his watch and a personality pattern was obvious yet he still employed him. Should Urban have been aware of the latest news? Of course not. that's insane. But it does show that it was more than an isolated problem and it was a person problem. The DUI is your typical Urban coverup like he did in Florida.

I’ve got Florida winning that game before the season begins, but my finger is on the trigger to flip the switch on that once I see a lil football

Really random thought here but i was thinking of the best teams that had bad years here.

Two that stick out to me was the 05 team (fulmers first losing season). The team was great defensively but just couldn’t find it on offense.

And

Dooleys last year where basically every offensive player was on a NFL roster at some point and we score like 35+ in 4 road games and lose. We are also damn good special teams wise that year.

Who do you all think would win?
