The fear is if he doesn’t make it in this month he’ll never make it. If they send him to JUCO for a year it might not work.

I don’t know how it works with eligibility if he doesn’t make it for the fall semester if he can enroll in the January semester.

academic red shirt could be used, but that means he'd have to qualify at some point..............i think. Sleegro and a few others seem to have a better grasp of how that works.

From what LA posted before it seems like all he would need is to graduate with a 2.0 for that. Which if they think can can get him fully qualified then I would assume he is already probably good enough for the academic redshirt. Jmo though. Certainly no expert. I just saw LA talk about it and went to www.google.com and typed academic redshirt in the search bar. Haha.

You know how people type questions in here and hope for a non sarcastic answer. They could save some time by typing it in Google and instantaneously get a real answer.

Looking at the rules, there are three requirements in order to qualify. 1) 16 core classes with at least a 2.3 GPA, 2) a minimum combined SAT or combined ACT score, and 3) completion of 10 of the 16 classes before their senior year. The GPA and test scores are tied together (i.e. the lower your GPA the higher test scores needed and the higher your GPA the lower the test scores needed). Minimum GPA is 2.3 with either a 900 on the SAT or 75 on the ACT. For comparison, a 3.0 GPA only requires a 620 SAT or 52 ACT.

To get an academic redshirt, a student-athlete must meet the 16 core classes and the 10/16 rule but the minimum GPA can go down to 2.0 with either a 1020 SAT or 86 ACT. Above a 2.3 GPA the requirements to qualify and the requirements for a redshirt are the same. The 10/16 part probably isn't an issue because there's not much you can do about it now. So he doesn't have the required test score for his GPA or doesn't have the required GPA for his test score. So either he's retaking a core class (or two or three) or trying to up his test scores or both.

Uhh? I thought ACT only went to like 36 or something? Did the standard change?

There once was an ole boy from Moultrie,
Whose grades kind of in the pokey,
He signed withTennessee
And failed to make B's
Now his ass is nowhere near the Smokies.

Another update by Rush, he’s saying he’s working his butt off to be here next week. Everyone pray for JJ!
May I ask where this was said? Because I’m sure they didn’t have the cajones to ask Rush to be more specific on exactly what he is working on. He isn’t working at the school obviously, there was never a second ‘summer school’, he didn’t retake the ACT when he could have. What exactly is RP even talking about? He stated clearly that he had an afternoon session followed by a final in July (insinuating at a school somewhere).

Only thing that would make sense of all of that is he was taking GED courses at which does UT accept those credentials (or NCAA)?

Sorry for the rant but gotta say, feels like Rush is trolling the ish out of everyone. The light is starting to come on at TN247, because they are now just saying, man, we don’t know instead of ‘he will be here’.
