Both my parents died of cancer...real painful stuff...so I’m already careful. I stick to generic parent references. Thanks for the advice.
As long as you are mindful of it, then there’s no worries. Extremely sorry for the loss of your parents. I know you also lost your wife...I think you said to cancer also. Stay strong and endure, buddy. I’m sorry you have faced a lot of heartache and sorrow with so many losses. Prayers for peace and comfort to you.

I also got pounded for saying that I thought Jones' staff had done a poor job of developing guys, that he had pissed away the east for two years in a row, and that in year five we shouldn't be saying things like "this is a rebuilding year" lol. Just funny to go back and see how so many were on that Butch train something fierce.
I've just never understood this line of thinking.
Less than 3% of coaches are elite and less than 15% are even "really good". Posting that a coach "isn't the guy" is one of the safest statistical prognostications anyone can make. It's like buying 1 of 125 raffle tickets sold and walking around moping that we probably won't come close to winning, then bragging about being right.

This is a fan (fanatic) site, we don't control the hires. So we take what we have and hope/believe for the best. Taking the 85% safe bet (not the guy) is easy, possibly borderline chicken****.
Bragging about the results doesn't make you Nostradamus, it just makes you the Debbie Downer that kept griping about the raffle ticket.
Congratulations?

No doubt. But reasonable doubt was still there. Injuries were crazy... especially on defense, where we were incredibly thin and we didn’t fully understand the role the S&C had to play there. The offense was setting records to keep up, but that obviously was looking good. We came within a hair of winning the East, and we were clouded by the top 10 promise of the early season victories over VT, Florida and UGA.

Of course in hindsight you see it, but it could have been an unfortunate bump in the road had there not been deep foundation flaws

I think we as fans understood more of the impact. We continuously made comments throughout Butch's career here at TN that the players were small compared to Clemson, FSU, Bama, etc. But, like you said, we didn't understand (for a time) the gears that were in motion in the background on why the S&C part of the program was failing. It wasn't until fans started questioning after how the first guy was let go that we started seeing the rot. I think that was the first major blow to Butch's regime that we fans could see. I'm sure people can point to more now, but at the time that is what made a lot of fans begin to quesstion in their minds.

How does the SEC Network work? Can you watch every game after it’s been played?

I’m hoping to avoid watching games live this year due to the time difference. I’ve got a Firestick and VPN but if someone was kind enough to share their login information that would be awesome.

Fans will generally defend their coach, even in the face of some big issues.(OSU)

The fact is, Butch had highly rated recruiting classes and was trending up very well till the bottom completely fell out. He deserved a little benefit of the doubt till UGA last year.

Agree except benefit of the doubt should’ve ended at UF last year.

Yeah I mean people were pretty convinced that Jones was the guy this time last year. So much so that folks like myself and Kingston were flamed for saying we pretty much doubted that he'd work out in the end. We read the tea leaves. They weren't developing players, pissed away the east two years in a row, players bailing left and right, etc. Well, I ended up being right. It's just funny how so many people would flame you for saying those types of things this time last year.

I was fully out after UF.

I was fully out in the third quarter of the UF game. The rally in the fourth quarter almost brought me back in, but the end result confirmed all my intuitions. I thought Georgia was cause enough to fire him - worst home loss in over a century. I blame John Currie for dragging out the inevitable and causing the worst season (and coaching search) in program history. I think if Butch was canned after UGA, an interim coach could have rallied us to a bowl game.

Currie was as clueless as a pack of bulldogs in a butt sniffing contest

I’ve got it through Sling TV, and while you can’t watch games on demand, they do replay them multiple times after it airs.

I just hope we have a lil less coach worship this time around. Tennessee is bigger than any coach. He needs to prove it to us over time before we start picking out statues after an 8 win season. At one point, you couldn’t say anything negative about Butch on here. It was absolutely absurd considering he had accomplished jack lol.

I just pray that there are no serious injuries in today's scrimmage. :crossfingers:
The best thing is for the first time in a long time we know the normal bumps and bruises that are certainly going to happen today aren't going to take our guys off the practice field for large amounts of time. That mentality is done

Yep

As much as I despise the musty chimp, that was some pretty good retort.
Not at all. There’s a kid that died as a result of a negligent S&C program, and he used it as a chance to go on a diatribe about “journalistic integrity” and anonymous sources. Journalistic integrity is kept by keeping your sources anonymous otherwise they aren’t going to give you information. In some cases that source may end up in prison (like Reality Winner) or dead (military intelligence sources) depending on what info they’re giving you.

What little respect I had for Muschamp went out the window with that temper tantrum. Shows how dumb the guy is (especially considering he’s been an anonymous source in the past and currently still is for a couple beat writers in Columbia). He could have easily said “let’s wait for all the facts to come out”. Instead he made himself look like a moron.
