I actually think Orgeron is going to do well there. He swung big on an OC that didn’t fit there. I have LSU going 10-2 maybe 11-1
I looked closer at their schedule. No way they're going to go 4-2 or 5-1 against Miami, Auburn, Georgia, Miss State, Bama and Texas A&M. And that's assuming they don't stumble against Florida or Arkansas.

haha, the AD had to have a meeting with him and OC because he WASN'T doing that last year....after he said he learned his lesson and was going to...

Ive heard things that went a lot deeper than that about how Canada wanted certain practice structure power abs recruiting final say.

I totally forgot they start with Miami. But i still like them as the 2nd best west team. I don’t trust auburn for some reason.

i'd really feel pretty good about a 3-1 start.

but beat WVU, and all bets are off. 4-0 is attainable, and i'm feeling really good about myself.;)

Yep. Wish we had WVU a few games in.

It would be MUCH harder to shrug off a home loss to a below-average UF team with a first-year HC-- on a huge recruiting weekend when we're honoring the '98 team and celebrating the 20th anniversary of our last NC. It was bad enough that we lost to Vandy when we were honoring John Ward at his last-ever UT game-- we can't lose to UF in Neyland at the 20th event.

yeah, if i have to pick which 3-1 i would want, i'd take the L to WVU, and the W over FL. in a hearbeat.

but screw it, why not win both?

I agree. Auburn starts with 8 straight games before their off week, which includes games against Washington, LSU, Arkansas, Miss State and UT. That's a tough stretch for 19 & 20 year-olds. They're going to stumble along the way.

And 3 of their last 4 include Texas A&M, Georgia and Bama.

i think the best LSU can probably do is 4-4 in the SEC. i don't trust them at all.

  • In the secondary, Tennessee’s coaches were working a lot on press coverage and hip flexibility with the cornerbacks today. We got to see a little more physicality out of the corners, and there’s definitely more of an emphasis on press and man coverage with this staff.
  • I’m intrigued by both Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson, Tennessee’s two true freshmen cornerbacks. I’m not alone in this; these two have gotten a lot of attention in the media the past week. But I think both of them bring something Tennessee’s cornerback room lacked last year: Athleticism and explosiveness. It will be interesting to see how much either one of them plays, and with Shawn Shamburger continuing to see time at safety, one of them could even snag a starting spot.
  • Todd Kelly Jr. continues to look good at safety, and he’s been practicing well this fall. That continued today, and he looks leaner and quicker than he did his last two years with Tennessee. Theo Jackson also looks really good at safety, and the Vols may have to find a way to play four or five safeties this year between them, Nigel Warrior, Micah Abernathy, and Shamburger.

You can "without so & so" for a lot of coaches and all of a sudden, they're pretty average.
yep, feelings about butch aside, it's not exactly fair to do that.

butch was not a good football coach here. he was a better than average recruiter, and by recruiting Dobbs, he bought himself 2 more years on The Hill than he probably would have gotten otherwise. that's about all you can say about that.

Starting freshman/rookie corners isn’t really that big of a deal in college or NFL. Hell Marcus lattimore was one of the best corners in the nfl this year. Cam Sutton was dynamic was a freshman.

They are so dependant on pass rush anyway. Only the best corners can hold up so long.

If we find a decent pass rush we will be fine.

Big if right there.
