Maybe I'm in the minority, but after getting over my emotional hatred of Kiffin leaving - in hindsight - I don't see what he did as some evil thing.

He's 34 years old, gets offered his dream job from a former employer, and takes it before someone else could. As a fan, it sucks. But I don't know that he is wrong in thinking that people change jobs every day, and being a coach is simply that. The fact fans are emotionally involved is somewhat irrelevant.

I have no doubt he could have announced it differently, and he probably would if he could do it again - but that's not why people were pissed. People were pissed because he was great, exciting, and he left us after one year right before signing day.

We can all be upset over him leaving but we would’ve all done the same thing if we were coaching USC and Tennessee called

It was not so much that he left, though that was significant. It is how he left. It is how he and Orgeron tried to convince the early enrollees to bend us over even more. It is how he actively lobbied for the job behind the scenes before it fell to him. And, it is his total lack of remorse of leaving us in the lurch that he did. We don't get Dooley or Jones (most likely), if he stays.

Actually, we all had different reasons for disliking Kiffin. I hated that Phil was fired, and thought it was a terrible hire. When he sneaked off into the night it sadly showed I was right about him. As of now, I think he is a brilliant offensive coordinator and may turn out to be one of the great coaches since he seems to have grown up a bit. I'm rooting for him, now.

If I were a 5 star recruit, I'd want my coach to be a big fan of Lord of the Rings.

That's a much better (and just as believable) story as the bible. I mean, lets be real... they didn't make a trilogy of the bible.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The ultimate trilogy.

What has kiffin done? You’re acting like he’s some violent criminal. He was immature when elevated to superstar status as a young coach. He’s learned from it and is doubt better.

Hyperbole. He has a long history of being disingenuous. No reason to think he wouldn't be here. That's what I'm saying.

You get points for experience, but we still need to see that 40 time.
I was afraid of something like this. My leverage in these negotiations isn't exactly what I was hoping for.

I did run a 4.6 forty but it's been some 45 years ago. My time nowadays is dependent upon how quick my car turns over and I can get it into gear.

And we'd absolutely be trying to flip people we had been recruiting to USC to follow us. After all, recruiting is about relationships.
I think that you and Hank are saying what you all would have done. I would like to think that I would have handled it differently. I may indeed have left if offered, but I may not. I would not have done it like he did and I would have been very sympathetic towards the fans and players that I left twisting.

The most important aspect of the 40 time probably involves bringing back beer with you, so I think you're likely OK :)

Well, I can assure you if I was offered the job and was to leave USC for UT, I would have given you guys a million bucks to split.

It's just the kind of guy I am.

What are some of those specifics? Because he probably commited adultrey and got a divorce.... that’s half of marriages.

He left TN big deal. I also don’t think it’s a big deal he tried to bring recruits that he signed with him to the school he was going to.

If you’re a ceo and just hired a great manager but switch jobs, is it out of the question to think about bringing him with you?

If I'm paying someone millions of dollars, like USC did Kiffin, you better believe I expect him to do whatever possible to bring the best players and coaches with him.

Any coach would do that. That's why they get paid the big bucks.

As far as I’m concerned, God can sort out Lane’s repentance or hypocrisy Himself. I don’t judge it one way or the other.
Furthermore, the only people dependent on Lane's repentance/hypocrisy are the people surrounding him or Lane himself. For us, it really doesn't matter other than praying for him.

I haven't criticized any of those things. I don't necessarily think he's a bad guy, either. I'm not as hard on Kiffin as many others on this board have been. I've actually been rooting for him since he left Bama.

That being said, the dude has always been uber-ambitious and concerned with what's best for him first and foremost. CFB coaching is a dog eat dog business and he's played it with the best of them. Just because I'm skeptical of everything that comes out of the dude's mouth in front of a microphone doesn't mean I think he's a terrible person.

The first 2 TMNT movies were great. Saw both in theaters as a kid. But please....do not mention ANYTHING about the 3rd TMNT movie. That's even worse than the 3rd Back to the Future movie.
lol I actually think 2 is one of the worst movies ever made. Was just joshing around

Even if Kiffin was never the coach at Tennessee I'd still consider him a douchebag and an immature brat. And I still wouldn't EVER want him coaching at Tennessee. I don't care how well he develops QB's or calls plays. He was born on 3rd base and thinks he hit a triple, that won't ever change.

Lol we would all gladly take him as OC right now and we know it.
