We all remember "Thank You John". But if I recall, he had another song that was dedicated to the 1998 team. However, it was only out for a week or two, because it violated NCAA rules or something. (Imagine that). Did that really happen, or is my mind failing me?

The flip side of Touchdown Tennessee is Back Where I Come From. Nothing to do with 98 Vols, but John Ward retired in 98 and that's when the record was released.

I remember the song you're talking about... I don't remember it violating NCAA rules or know why it would... It's been a long time since I've heard it but I remember the line "Big Al and Raynoch rock". Good tune.

I seem to remember this too. It was only out for a couple weeks at most and it was never sold in stores like Touchdown Tennessee was. I think the problem was that it mentioned a few players by name. Not sure if it was an official UT thing or more a WIVK thing.

Perhaps it was "I go back" which shows Neyland Stadium with the V O L S letters and was also a dedication to a childhood friend he lost ____ Wilson.

Adidas released a commercial congratulating Tennesse as the national champions which was pulled because of the NCAA

So this song you mention came and went...in a few days...

Kinda like Chesney’s “marriage” to Renee Zellweger??!!
Renee Zellweger did an interview a few years ago where she lamented having never been married. When reminded of Kenny Chesney, she said "I forgot about that." Like it was one date or something. LOL. When their marriage was annulled, she cited "fraud"... what does that sound like?

Yep, that's it! "Team of Destiny". It made the Nashville country stations for a week or so too. I remember it very well now. Came out right after the National Championship. It actually was fairly well written. More up tempo than "Touchdown Tennessee".

Went something like...

"Team if Destiny...
Our Blood runs orange and it runs deep... Thanks to all of...(U and T?)..."

"Team of Destiny.
Shout it?, "Victory!
Team of Destiny..."

I also think that there were also some back up singers with with the line "We're number one. We're number one..." between lyrics.

Found the actual lyrics. Says it was never commercially released, but was scheduled to come out before "How Forever Feels". Going by the lyrics it is fairly obvious the use of player names was the likely issue. Can't believe someone wrote and recorded a song like that but never thought of potential issues before hand.

Kenny Chesney:Team Of Destiny

Team of Destiny
This song is by Kenny Chesney.
(Written by Dean Dillon and Kenny Chesney)

(Team of Destiny was to be released as a single shortly
Before the release of Everywhere We Go. However, it was
Never commercially released. How Forever Feels was to be
The B Side.)

Team of destiny
Our blood runs orange and it runs deep
Thanks to all of you and Tee
Hail to Tennessee
Shouting victory
Team of destiny.

Syracuse fell and the Gators did too
Week by week the dream came true
The Orange and White wouldn't be denied
Tempe turned into a Rocky Top high.

Team of destiny
Our blood runs orange and it runs deep
Thanks to all of you and Tee
Hail to Tennessee
Shouting victory
Team of destiny.

Peerless was priceless every game
Jamal and the Travis duo did their thing
Fulmer found 'em a way to win
Big Al and Raynock rocked time and again.

Team of destiny
Our blood runs orange and it runs deep
Thanks to all of you and Tee
Hail to Tennessee.
Shouting victory.

Team of destiny
Our blood runs orange and it runs deep
Thanks to all of you and Tee
Hail to Tennessee
Shouting victory
Team of destinty.

Our blood runs orange and it runs deep
Team of destiny...
