'18 GA LB JJ Peterson (Tennessee signee)

I perused the last 5 pages of this thread and didn't see anyone mention what the 247 boys said on their podcast...so, SIAP, but this is what they said.

Patrick talked to Rush Probst last Wednesday, and was told he has class work he's finishing up, and that the last days of his class work were last Wednesday and Thursday. There are also "red tape" issues to go through, including the NCAA Eligibility Center (formerly the clearinghouse). They said that it's likely that his GPA was such that if he got a high enough standardized test score, he would be fine, and when he re-took the standardized test, the score wasn't high enough, so he had to raise his GPA to match his standardized test score.

Me typing here: He has to graduate high school. There are forms to fill out, grades to tally, and people have to be in the office to perform these tasks. Fall school hasn't started, so the staff on hand is likely a skeleton staff. AFTER he gets done with that, he has to go through the NCAA process before he'll be allowed to work out with the team.

Pretty sure he has already graduated

If that is the case, then he's at a community college taking these classes, and the staff might be even less available to help, and/or less experienced sending information to the NCAA. Or worse, they might have to send info back to the high school and then to the NCAA.

Any chance the paperwork could simply have been misplaced?

Because the wait has stressed you out too much?

Collectively, VN is usually in some form of...

If you think UT doesn't have a team assigned to getting his paperwork pushed through then you might need a lap and a marijuana.

UT has done everything permissible, but ultimately, it's up to the player and the NCAA. Other schools have commits in the same position-- like Coynis Miller at Auburn. Like JJ, he planned to be at Auburn in June, had delays and needed to finish his coursework to enroll ahead of fall camp. Miller took online courses, got the grades and the NCAA cleared him last week. JJ's cutting it even closer... but there's still time.

At this point i don't think JJ will contribute this year anyways with how far behind he is with the team. I can see him possibly play in crap games and still redshirt but don't think he'll contribute in meaningful games. Besides how healthy is his shoulder? Is it really worth the risk to throw him out there?

He almost certainly taking online classes

That's fine and all, doesn't change large organizations' innate ability to make a simple task take FOREVER for no apparent reason.

I feel pretty certain that the reason this is taking "forever" because he has taken multiple classes or a single class more than once trying to raise his core gpa

If that's the case, then all they should have do to is update a grade, and it's done, right? RIGHT?
