Haven’t heard much talk regarding the Star. Who’s in the running at this point other than Shamburger?
Heard TKjr’s name as well as Nigel Warrior. Not believing they take Warrior away from safety. Shannon Reid was an early name. It’s a pretty vital part of Pruitt’s defenses, so we should see it pared down to realistic candidates by this week imo.

I'm having trouble figuring out this staff's plan for Ty Chandler. Is he not going to get thr most carries? I understand that they like big backs, but c'mon, dude's electric.

He'll be even more fresh/electric if he's only getting 15 touches a game rather than 25. Especially with a bruiser like Madre or Jordan softening up the defense in between.

Agree on Warrior. He’s not going anywhere.

Reid? He fast enough to play the Star?

Just from listening to a lot of media outlets, it seems not all of them are really in agreement about what the star is in Pruitt's defense. Some have mentioned it being a kind of hybrid SS/OLB, some basically just refer to it as a glorified NB who is good against the run.

Seems like most of what we've seen/heard up to this point suggests the latter. And if that's the case, I'm not sure Reid is really getting looks there. Apparently so far most of the guys who seem to be candidates to play NB have been doing a lot of their practicing with the safeties.

I'm really hoping having the time off to heal up (plus running up that damn ramp) will help restore some of TKJr's speed.

I thought I remembered reading where he lost a step mostly because of nagging lower body injuries.

David Ubben didn’t crown anybody. Just opined that Chryst was more impressive. He seems to be a big fan of checking down.

There’s no way anyone that paid attention can honestly say that KC was more “impressive”. He didn’t really do anything that was impressive. He only attempted a handful of difficult throws.

Yeah the VQ guys said he looks faster than he's looked in about 2 years in their most recent podcast.

TK's days as a starter are likely over, but I'm hoping he can find some sort of role to help this team out. Even if it's just as a rotational guy for some sub-packages or a special teams player.

I always try to be cautious about the reports we hear during camp, but most of the buzz coming out of the first couple days of practice seems to suggest that the youth movement with our DBs is real. Newcomers like Taylor, Thompson, and Flowers might make it hard for some upperclassmen like Kelly to find those situational roles.

And Ubben thought he did it like a boss. 😎

I thought it was Labruzza.
Yeah they mentioned he had an INT at one point yesterday. Can't remember who it was against.

He was running at NB with the second team during the Orange and White game, so it would make sense if he was still there now. That could be a spot where one of those newcomers makes a push, though.

Not a bad problem to have. If TKJr can be more of a sideline/locker room leader, (while for his sake hopefully finding meaningful-enough playing time), that's probably best case.

That was one thing that stood out to me about Ubben's play by play breakdown. During 11 on 11 work JG attempted 9 passes and was 3-6 on throws over 10 yards. Chryst attempted 10 passes and none were 10 yards or more downfield.

I wasn't there so I couldn't say for sure or not whether that was because the OL couldn't give him time to do anything other than get the ball out quickly, though. Still, you'd think coaches would script things hoping each QB would take a couple shots on intermediate/long throws.

Fitzpatrick was the best DB at Bama and he slid over to Star in certain packages. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar situation with Warrior
