Florida's 'stand your ground' law under scrutiny after father killed over parking spot

Blame to go around everywhere.

1. Too many handicapped spots for a bunch of lazy, overweight sloths
2. Hoodrat displaying typical ghetto head bobbing, gum smacking, attitude over clearly parking in handicapped space
3. Old entitled baby boomer geezer with a gun trying to throw his weight around and Barney Fife a situation
4. Hoodwolf/white knight boyfriend coming out to defend hoodrat's honor and just escalates a verbal confrontation into an assault

This entire country is a dumpster fire. Where is our soul?

We lost our soul when we exchanged God for government.

Shouldn't have knocked him down. Not saying that justified being shot or not, but he had no right to hit the man. None.

My guess is that he saw an old white man and he thought he could easily whoop his ass.

oops.

The shooter has a history it seems:

Another Circle A customer, Rick Kelly, told NBC affiliate WFLA that he encountered Drejka in a similar situation a couple of months ago. Kelly said he had pulled into that same handicap spot and Drejka began inspecting his decals to see if he had the right to be there. The situation escalated.

"He was basically threatening to shoot me that day," Kelly said.

And in 2012, Tyler Smith, 18, accused a driver later identified as Drejka of hanging a gun outside of his truck window during a road rage incident in Palm Harbor, northwest of Tampa, according to law enforcement documents obtained by NBC News.

I was waiting with bated breath....on the edge of my seat, watching the dumbass in a horror flick get suckered into position for the kill shot and - BAM!!!!

The race of McGlockton, who was black, has added another element in the case as protesters on Sunday held signs demanding the "racist" law be repealed.

And before anyone gets their jimmies rustled, point out where the law is unequivocally labeled, Stand Your White Ground. I’ll wait.....

Entitlement, upbringing, lies and past governance share more responsibility than someone’s skin color. The race card died years ago. I’m tired of anyone using their race as a crutch. It’s BS!

Dad's take:

McGlockton’s father, Michael, said that his son was just standing up for a family he adored.

"Markeis was a good man — he was all about his kids," Michael McGlockton said in an interview with NBC News on Monday. "He wasn’t out there looking for trouble, but he would stand up for his family and that’s exactly what he did. As a man, if you see someone confronting someone that you love, what are you gonna’ do? You’re gonna’ run to their defense. You’re gonna try to protect them."

If the shooter threatened his SO like he seems to have threatened others then McGlockton is in the right, imo.

Wow. You saw right through me. Yes, precisely what I was referencing.

So, what exactly are you referencing?
Perhaps it was when the colonists decided to violently overthrow the British empire for.................. taxes.
Jesus said rend unto Caesar. F that ****, give me liberty or give me death.

I don't believe that I would pop out of the store and blindside knock him down right out of the chute before saying a word. It's a good way to get shot.

Running up to a car you have no business approaching and screaming at someone isn’t?

This guy isn’t a known rabble rouser and was looking for confrontation and was likely emboldened by the stand your ground bull**** law.

Lesson learned. If you're gonna commit to the take down, you better incapacitate your target.

I’m sure they would accept your check in London if you are dying to send them money.

My take is that the dead guy decked the wrong man. Exactly why I no longer flip off or shake my fist at someone that cuts me off in traffic. Too many folks with a hair trigger. Looks like 2 of them met in the parking lot.

Looking at the video, I'm not sure the Sheriff shouldn't have charged him and let the court throw it out.

I'm all about SYG laws, but I'm not sure this is a clear cut case. There could be more to the situation (verbal threats for seriously bodily harm?) but I'm not seeing it right now especially if the guy has a history of flashing his firearm.

We lost our soul when we exchanged God for government.

Ah the good old days, when dueling was legal and you could murder someone in the street. Or take the family to a lynching. And beat your wife with the appropriate sized rod.

Religion has nothing to do with it. A busybody that should have minded his own damn business murdered a guy in broad daylight. He'll do it again if all it takes is parking illegally to set him off.

Best to avoid all public confrontation in our political climate; stands a good chance you'll get shot by some POS with a gun.

I don't believe that the illegal parking caused the shooting. I think it had more to do with the assault. If it was the illegal parking, he would have shot the woman.

Duels! Lynching! And wife-beating!
