Josh Dobbs (merged)

You seem to be stressing that there’s a plurality (“plenty”) of posters “rooting against Dobbs” and when you go off half-cocked it’s my job to smack you with a newspaper. :) Don’t see how this is any more YOUR business than mine. Hence can the “concern”. :yu:

As far as Rudolph and Dobbs, Mason ain’t going anywhere in his rookie year...wouldn’t guarantee the same for Dobbs. It’s a keep Landry or Dobbs scenario and it’s far from certain.

First year, second year. Pretty much the same. They may just cut Jones and keep the young guys. No one knows yet.

Plenty of posters are wanting a VFL to fail. Someone needs to say something. Talk like that should be banned. :hi:

You keep saying “plenty”. Unleash the QUOTES. With your history of exaggeration, this’ll be interesting. They ain’t cutting a third rounder in training camp...or they would’ve cut Dobbs last year with his extended preseason playing time and not so great results.

I don't think people are hoping Dobbs fails. They're reacting to the obnoxiousness of D4H.

How is it faux outrage? If you are not doing it I am obviously not talking about you so why even comment?

Many here are rooting for him to fail and gloating about his spot maybe being taken. Its sad and anyone doing it is a loser.

I’ve read every post on this thread, I didn’t get that anyone was rooting for him to fail or gloating about what might or likely will happen to Dobbs, for the most part of the conversation, he is respected as a VFL and his role here. The posters are just responding to D4H’s over the top comments that add nothing but disdain and ridicule, to a POSTER. Reread the thread, my advice to you.

Plenty, several, multiple. Whatever word you want to use.

I have not once said anything about Rudolph being cut. He could have an even worse camp also. We shall see.

Here's the thing, barring simply being an absolute bust Rudolph is wearing the equivalent of plot armor at this point in the story. Heads will likely roll if the #76 pick at the QB position was botched so badly he couldn't hold the roster.

So this leaves us with Dobbs and Rudolph. The Steelers are not rebuilding. Here they are ranked #3 going into the season.

2018 NFL Power Rankings - Way-too-early offseason preview

Now agree or disagree with exactly where you think they should be ranked they are looking at a playoff run and if their 36yo starter gets nicked up for a game or two are they going to keep a veteran to try and stay in the hunt or risk trotting out a player that's never taken a real NFL snap before? (Be that Dobbs, Rudolph or both)

Butchie mind your business sometime. If you are not of the guys gloating why are you so concerned? There are multiple posters gloating and obviously wishing Dobbs fails. if that isn't you then great.

Plenty of posters are rooting against him. Not "one or two" like you are trying to frame it. I never gave a percentage or said that MOST posters are acting like that. The ones doing it are a bunch of losers.

As far as Rudolph, him and Dobbs are one round and one year apart. Nothing is written in stone and I wouldn't write Dobbs off just yet.

All I will say, not so, at all.

Comments like that, you ought to name them so they know who they are. They may not know.

So if ONE is “plenty”, then you want them banned for saying it? Sounds practically American. :huggy:

Sorry dude for picking on you, but haven’t seen any poster’s name such as “Plenty, several or multiple “ If you want to throw out comments to call out others on here, I assume out of frustration; at least back up your comments.

I never said arrest them. Those post should be removed though.

They know who they are. They are obvious. If you are offended then you are probably guilty. No need to name names. :hi:

Lol, you got me there, am guilty of a lot of things in my numerous years, but when I do call out someone, they sure as he** know when I do, but can’t recall anyone of them named the ones you gave them, but my memory is short.

So if one reacts to your posts...then they’re “guilty”? North Korea salutes. :)

Spot on. I would be willing to bet if someone started a thread poll asking how many are rooting for Dobbs to fail at Pittsburg, it would be next to zero. I honestly believe 99% of Vol fans would be ecstatic for Dobbs if he has even half the career that D4H has claimed he will. I know I will.

Patience caterpillar. Camp hasn't even started. I'll wait until preseason when Dobbs is the talk of the NFL to tell you so.

Josh Dobbs will be the greatest player in NFL history. That legend starts this year. Strap in cause it's gonna be a fun ride.

You guys crying that people here are "rooting for Dobbs to fail", need to call out garbage like this, because if he didn't do it, there wouldn't even be a thread about this.

Dobbs was a 4th rounder. Rudolph was a 3rd rounder.

Why are y'all acting like he was a 1st round pick that they invested a lot in? If they thought Rudolph was the answer, they wouldn't have passed on him twice. All the Steelers did was increase their odds by drafting another mid-round QB. Sorta like the Patriots a few years ago when they drafted Garropolo and Brisett in back to back years. And the Giants the last 2 years with Webb and Lauletta.

Dobbs has just as much a chance as Rudolph to be the heir apparent. Reading this situation otherwise is being dumb.

You are the guy that used a quote from one player about another QB that said he would be "special" as "proof" you were right.

Yet when Antonio Brown said Rudolph will be special, you completely ignore it and go with your fantasy.

Maybe you should be more concerned about yourself rooting against the white quarterbacks on the Vols roster, and the ones who commit for us. You seem to openly root against them.

AB was just being nice. There's a difference when Lesean McCoy says what he says and when AB said what he said.

Nonetheless, what Mason Rudolph is or will become is IRRELEVANT. Just as Drew Bledsoe became irrelevant when Tom Brady started to play.

Once Josh Dobbs gets on the field this year, it'll be a wrap for all the other QBs on the Steelers roster. He's gonna run away with the job. Expect Big Ben to get traded next off-season.

One thing we can certainly say. LeSean McCoy ain’t nice! Allegedly criminally violent...not nice.

I saw a pre-draft report that Steelers coaches were enamored with Mason Rudolph and relayed it on the board...boom! D4H searched wide and far for the first obscure writer who opined that the Steelers weren’t looking to add a QB and rode his jock like he was the end all be all. They drafted Rudolph. Laughing at that visual comedy doesn’t translate to wishing ill will to Dobbs...it’s laughing at his over the top champion. I’ve seen two or three posters declare failure to his career based on ridiculous presumptions. That’s THEIR issue. They’re the minority...quit asserting otherwise to preach your narrative. :hi:

If I remember correctly, the article you posted was talking about the Steelers drafting Rudolph in the 1st round. I said no chance they take a QB in round 1. And then I cited this article that cites Bob Labriola saying that the Steelers were not gonna draft a QB in Round 1 or 2. Steelers won't use a first or second round pick on a quarterback

And guess what? That's exactly what happened. Steelers didn't draft a QB in the first 2 rounds. What happened that no one expected was Rudolph fell to the 3rd round. At that point the Steelers drafted him because they felt he was good value. If Rudolph had gone in the first 2 rounds like every mock draft had him before draft day, then the Steelers would have never had a chance to draft him.

And for the record, Bob Labriola is not just a random blogger. He's probably the most respected beat writer covering the Steelers. His sources are good. And as you can see, he was proven right as the Steelers didn't use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB.
