What are the playing field dimensions now?

The original Yankee Stadium (The House that Ruth built) was 295 ft. down the right field line, vs. 354 ft. to mid right field fence, and a whopping 490 ft. to center field ("death valley").

Maybe it was a coincidence that Babe Ruth batted left-handed & he pulled most of his HRs over the short right field fence? Ditto Roger Maris (61 HRs in 1961) and Yogi Berra also batted left-handed.

My hero growing up was Mickey Mantle, who although he was a switch-hitter, was right handed, unfortunately. He may have been the greatest Yankee HR hitter of all time, except that he had trouble pulling the ball down either the short LF or RF lines in Yankee Stadium:

"His 372 (L) to 164 (R) home run disparity was due to Mantle having batted left-handed much more often, as the large majority of pitchers are right-handed. In spite of short foul pole dimension of 296 feet (90 m) to left and 301 feet (92 m) to right in original Yankee Stadium, Mantle gained no advantage there as his stroke both left and right-handed drove balls there to power alleys of 344' to 407' and 402' to 457' feet from the plate. Overall, he hit slightly more home runs away (270) than home (266)."

I like it. Build your team to fit the park you play 81 games in. The pesky pole at Fenway is just as easy to hit it out of.

Duh. They never fought

Tyson wasn't the best boxer ever, but he was the best "azz kicker" of all time. 1 shot KO power that wasn't seen before him, hasn't been seen since. The Only man I ever saw that could get hit by a Tyson uppercut or hook and not be out cold was Holyfield...and Evander is very much underrated by the general public. Most boxing "experts" do rank Holyfield in their all time top 10 heavyweights, if memory serves, he is the only 3 time heavyweight champion of the world.

Tyson was a much better fighter in his early 20s at 215 to 220lbs than he was after prison at 235 or 240. He had more power than anyone at 215, and all the extra muscle did was slow him down and seemingly shorten his reach. At 240 he was average, nothing more. I dont know that i could say that any heavyweight who ever lived could beat Tyson at 21 or 22 years old, though. He knocked everyone out in the 1st round, so we never got to see what he was truly capable of. The 80s and 90s saw some great heavyweights, though...Foreman, Tyson, and Holyfield are all top 10 heavyweights of all time. I still don't see how anyone ever beat George Foreman in his prime. With his "telephone pole" jab, he was still a top 5 ranked fighter in his mid 40s, and is the oldest fighter to ever become champ. His jab knocked many men out, and last I saw his record as a pro was either 74 and 6, or 76 and 4...either way, he's a beast

Dang, show me another heavyweight with this speed! would have knocked Ali's block off.

Esy to fast shadow box. Slows you down a lot when you actually hit anything, even the heavy bag...
Put a real boxer in there and no way is he throwing his hands like that.

Yeah have a ridiculous advantage at home and the mlb looks the other way because whelp yankees.

Screw em.

And Ali would taunt him by ducking and dodging then Ali would pop him right in the mouth when he least expected it

Ali never fought anyone even close to as fast as Tyson was in his early 20s. His combo of speed/power would have given Ali a lot of trouble. He was faster and more powerful than Ali.

How is yankee stadium any different than Fenway Park? The pesky pole is 300ft. Both teams are hitting in the same park anyway lol.

So to change up the subject a bit, for us to be just transitioning back to pure white and orange with no alternate colors, they are dropping a lot of smokey grey and what seems to be black gear?

Seems like they might have a uniform cooking for 2019? Considering they can't change them this year....?

Edit: BTW these look awesome.

Pruitt and Fulmer were trying to get rid of the gray and cheggerboards this year, and Nike was like, “we just spent millions on branding something and you want us to ditch it all?” So, not happening this year, maybe ever.

And it always amuses me when people want no black on the jerseys but want black cleats. Either use black all over or don’t use it all.

The grays looked good. CheckerNeyland is something I always enjoyed and hope they keep. The win against Florida, and the wins against Georgia are something I'll always remember Butch for.

Peter Gammons referred to the new yankee stadium as "the biggest joke in baseball."

Ok...but both teams are hitting in the same Park so how is it an offensive advantage towards the Yankees? Other than outfields getting used to playing it off the wall and the dimensions i don’t think they are such thing as a “field/Park” advantage in the MLB. Both teams can benefit or be hurt by it just the same.
