TrumpPutingate III: the beginning of the end

Convictions for lying and indictments that will never be prosecuted are not much of a record.
If you think that will be the extent of his work, then you aren't paying attention.

This was the point:

Wow you're gullible.

Whitewater:

14 convictions including the number 3 person at the State Department and the Governor of AR.

The others mentioned in that stupid meme weren't Special Prosecutor investigations.

Once again, and just after the announcement of a planned summit with Putin, Trump pronounced on Twitter that "Russia continues to say they had nothing to do with Meddling in our Election!" ... Trump desperately wants to just take Russia's word for it, even after his own Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has stated clearly that he does believe in the conclusion of the intelligence community that Russia meddled - and that they will try to do so again in the future. There is no way to spin this, Trump is taking the word of Putin over his own Secretary of State because it serves a narrative which he feels is of personal benefit to him. This has gotten so old.

The Whitewater investigation was wrapped up in about 18-24 months with actual convictions related to the crimes investigated.

Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents over his contacts with Kislyak... that is related to the crimes being investigated. He was a high profile member of the Trump campaign ... and 18 months? The Mueller investigation has only been ongoing for 13 months.

Reeeeeeeeee!!!

So what you're saying is Mueller has plenty more time to wrap this up without you all and Gowdy screeching about it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Come on BB, that is a stretch of Trumparian proportions.

I'd like to see Mueller produce something related to his original mandate or turn it back over to the DOJ.

The Flynn felony conviction came as a direct result of questions relevant to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials being asked by federal investigators. Flynn lied when asked those relevant questions over his contacts and admitted as much with his guilty plea.

Mueller answers to the DOJ. If they're satisfied with his methods, that's all that matters. In past cases, he has an impressive resume of getting convictions eventually. Buckle up.

What he was being questioned about is relevant to the original mandate, not his conviction for lying.

Mueller answers to 1 person who is acting as if he answers to no one.

Who is doing the stretching now? Flynn, by his own admission, lied to an FBI agent (a felony) when asked a question over his contact with Kislyak, who is still highly relevant to Mueller's probe of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign.

Just curious, what criminal statutes are in question that the Trump campaign may have wittingly violated?

Truth be told, no one knows what Mueller is doing.
If he runs an honest, unbiased investigation, then he'll have to dig into the anti-Trump side as well. There's just too many connections and coincidences from that perspective that no honest investigator would overlook.

Going to start calling you Stretch Armstrong.

Flynn's conviction has nothing to do with Muellers original mandate. It's like getting pulled over for speeding and the cop finds a joint so he arrests you for possession. The arrest had zilch to do with why he pulled you over in the first place.

I think he 100% believes Russia meddled in the election. However, admitting it gives more credence to the Mueller probe so if (I'm betting he is) and when he is cleared of "collusion" I predict he'll be acknowledging Russian involvement.

The other reason to not acknowledge (for him) is it raises questions about why he won and would he have won without said influence (I think he would have).

In short, he's defending his presidency by keeping doubt alive. I don't condone it but I get why he's doing it.

Toobin has explained the crimes that could fall under the “collusion” umbrella. There are several.
