'19 AL QB Taulia Tagovailoa

He goes anywhere other than Bama then he’s wanting it over on the soonest side.

My biggest concern is Thompson's staff. Their HC along with numerous other guys on staff are former Ala players and Alumni. Not saying they would push him to Alabama but that's another potential obstacle to overcome. If JP, Neidemeyer and Helton pull this off it would be one of the best recruiting efforts that you would ever see. Plus throw in the having to compete with a legend Coach's grandson, it could make it easier to choose his own path away from his brother.

House money. He’s theirs to LOSE not ours. Sweat free zone. :cool2:

Absolutely! If a rival team can pull a player that Ala wants out of Thompson these days, then they deserve huge raises. It definitely wasn't by accident that they moved to Alabaster. There's much better HS programs with more history of success than Thompson. Then suddenly they hire a new coaching staff and HC with numerous Bammer Alum's. It's definitely no coincidence.

That's not true. His stats were not average for a guy being put in for garbage time. Most QBs in garbage time don't throw or score any touchdowns.

He played in 8 games as a (True Freshman), threw 49 of 77 for a 63% completion percentage. He threw for almost 636 yds and 11 TDs with 2 ints.

Those aren't just average stats for a guy who never started a game..... He was the 2nd string QB the whole season.

Just to put that into perspective, Jarrett Guarantano (A Redshirt Freshman) for us played in 9 games, threw 86 of 139 for a 62% completion percentage. He threw for 992yds with 4 TDs and 2 ints as a starter in I believe 8 of those 9 games.

I'd say Alabama's future starting QB is not average. Also that didn't figure in Tagovailoas rushing yardage. But it was also up there.

JG actually only started 6 of those games. Dormady started the first five and McBride filled in for JG when UT played Missouri.

Still, your point stands that Tua's numbers are much, much better than JG's in even less time.

I saw him play 1 quarter vs Vandy and thought he may be the best QB in the nation. Find a way to watch it. His passes were PERFECT. Short, mid range and deep. Dude is legit.

Tua's stats for the year, not counting the National Championship game - 35 completions in 53 attempts (66% comp. percentage) 8 td's, 1 int.

Tua's stats in the NC game - 14 completions in 24 attempts (58% comp. percentage) 3 td's, 1 int.

Tua's stats have been great all year, he just wasn't needed to win. If Hurts had played better during the NC game, Tua still wouldn't have played.

I guess those are not too bad for a true Freshman. I assumed that if his stats wee so good, he would have been starting. Do you know in which games he played and which parts of the games he played? Were they mop-up appearences in the 4th quarters or were they at critical times of the games?

That play where he spins out of trouble and drops a dime is NFL ish. Dilfer compared him to Aaron Rodgers for a reason

Not arguing with your point, but throwing off your back foot with a couple of pass rushers in your face will affect your percentages and your yardage numbers because you don't have time to go through your progressions, or look for your deep routes. Don't know if Tua would have done any better behind our OL last season than JG.

Do we know if he came in yet?

The silence makes me wonder. Just guessing but either Saban stopped it or Pruitt chewed someone’s backside for leaking information about the visit. Either way it isn’t good for us when secret visits go public

That would likely lead to others following suit. This would be huge to get him in the class this early. Doubt it happens but if it does it could have a big impact

If he and Crouch publicly commit today, we will finish with a top 5 class and take a huge step toward winning the East.

I think we are already a 9 to 10 wins/year program now that Pruitt is HC. (Not going to let one bad year under a lame duck coach persuade me to think guys like Guarantano, Tuttle, Bituli, Smith, Jennings, etc. aren’t capable... we’ve got a dozen NFL players on the current roster).

A top 5 class could put us right back in competition for the SEC. And before you say we’re a long way from competing with Bama, keep in mind that Butch had them on the ropes in 2016. We just need to eliminate a few key weaknesses - OL, RB, CB, OLB
