the five-star rising senior offensive tackle from huntington (w.va.) high school returned to tennessee last weekend, spending nearly two full days in knoxville with his mother, kimberly adams, and both of his younger brothers.
i had never been there, adams said. years ago, i had been to nashville, but not knoxville, so it was a new experience for me and my younger kids, as well. We had a great time. i just fell in love with the city. I really did not want to go back to west virginia. But it was really a nice city, and everyone was so friendly not just the coach and wife. They were great. But it was outside of the college, the little shops we went in. Everyones just so friendly on the street everywhere. It was a real good experience.
over the weekend, adams said she was eager to just get to know everyone at tennessee, get a firsthand look at the vols facilities and see how their program is lined out. the highlights of the trip, she said, were the city in itself and just the friendliness of everyone, including tennessees staff. Traveling from west virginia to knoxville allowed showed her that its not a bad drive at all and that wright would not be that far from home at tennessee. For me, thats a big thing, too the distance, adams said. really, what stood out is how friendly just the whole city was i mean, not the whole city, but where we were at. Its just a real friendly atmosphere and family atmosphere.
he has to put the dedication and the hard work in, and hes the one that has to go to the school that he chooses, she said. the only thing i can do is give him my best advice, so ultimately, i think, in the end its his decision. Its totally his decision with my input. But i want him to go where he feels comfortable, where hes happy.
