National media figuring out Haslam

The University President makes $585,000, our strength coach makes $625,000 and you think the administration is overpaid? This is a University that supports a football team. Get back to basics and cap these athletic salaries otherwise the sport kills itself with greed, college football disappears. I would miss it.

Really? How much of the States Tax dollars go to supporting the AD? How much money is pulled from academics to support the AD? You want football to disappear, cap coaching salaries in the state. You are wishing on a star if you think other states will follow suit.

oh, i understand very well. I think the whole idea of haslam running ut as his own private company is a major problem - but if i am honest, its because of the horrible job he has done in influencing vol football and other sports.

I dont care for bev's sjw crap she seemed to be implementing so i am happy she is gone from that perspective. Again, the only reason i think she was hired was to paper over the title ix issues. That said, it is very unfortunate that the only reason she seems to be really getting tossed out (into a cushy prof job) is because she went against haslam. Not for being a bleeding heart liberal bringing sjw indoctrination on campus or other such flaws but simply because she stood up to haslam to push gov workers over private ones (typical dem) and because she pushed cjp as ad over haslam cronies - the one and only thing i (very strongly) support that i am aware she has done.

cpf?

It'll be bad for the people currently working for the University system, since this seeks to outsource their jobs to a buddy firm.

And people keep voting for scum like this. He's trying to wrap up the president job so he can shift funds to friends and garner kickbacks. Looks like Bill is as crooked as Flying J's rebate scam after all.

Those jobs should be privatized

Tell the workers who are going to lose their jobs to a contractor whose employees have no experience or knowledge of anything at UT that it's irrelevant. This is politics and money influence at it's worse.

Think about it. Outsourcing is something that comes from the likes of the Haslam B school. Academics teaching people who know nothing about a business how to run it; maybe academics need to experience a little of what they teach. Sometimes the most "efficient" and the most "cost effective" aren't the best approach because as you point out there's also experience and pride in being part of something to consider.

This whole mess started back in 2003, Haslam was elected mayor of Knoxville and Hamilton was hired as AD when Dickey retired.

Agreed. Dickey retiring and leaving Hamilton in charge of the UTAD was the beginning of the end of UT being competitive.

Anyone who doesn't understand this truth can go find friends with the flat earthers and the guys who deny gravity and Australia exist.

We have had nothing but Academics and Bureaucrats in charge for more than a Decade, this is the heart of the problem!!!

Put Academics in charge of .....ACADEMICS!!

And Sports People in charge of .....SPORTS!!

Its not rocket Science!!!

.

Put the guy responsible for the Browns in charge!! They're an NFL team! It's not rocket surgery!!

It's not about her being all right. It's about the Haslam family demoting her because of a few things.

1. She said no to the JLL privatization of UT.
2.She said no to Schiano.
3.She fired Currie.
4.She hired Fulmer.

I don’t disagree - just pointing out she didn’t technically get fired. Those are four very good things she did. I don’t support the Haslams....at all.

What liberal SJW crap has she brought that’s “indoctrinating” on campus? Is there any evidence of this? Or is it she’s just a woman from a northern university so that’s the assumption

Everyone that is in here trashing Davenport and her politics are totally missing the point that the Haslam family is the ONE thing that needs to be cleaned up at our university. Until that family stops having significant influence on our school, it is only going to contiune to be the dog and pony show it has been for the last 15-20 years.

Google Beverly Davenport and sex week, LGBTQ, gender neutral, Diversity Office, etc.

Beverly Davenport named University of Tennessee chancellor

Here is something from last year:
Lawmakers criticize University of Tennessee chancellor's decision to fund pride center

ANd here is something from her time at Cinci, just so you dont think it happened only at UT:
Drag show participants obliterate gender roles | College Living | newsrecord.org

They hired her knowing she was into promoting things like that. They fired her because she went against their wishes. She would have been allowed to continue with the sex week thing had she done the Hadlam’s bidding.

Let’s not forget that Jimmy was busted for calling state reps and reminding them that they didn’t make the decisions at UT and that he did, and the fact that his brother the governor lied about it.

Firing her was a good move.

Was it? Read these sentences from the article slowly and try to comprehend it: The firing came just weeks after the state legislature approved a bill replacing the entire board of trustees for the university system with appointments made by Haslam. DiPietro himself is rumored to be leaving soon, which would enable the new board to choose his replacement.

Many folks with insider knowledge has been saying for months that the Haslam's are paving the way to restore their power over UT. Jimmy H was infuriated when Bev voted against him on this, and to fire his lap dog Currie was the last straw. Bill is packing the BOT with his buddies who will appoint him in charge as President of UT as soon as his term as governor is up. This will restore and strengthen their crazy grip on UT and the deteriation of UT will begin again.

Dont get me wrong - I am happy that she is gone because I dont like what she was pushing. I am quite unhappy, however, that Haslam and cronies have the ability to put her in to do just those things in the first place and then yank her out when she shows a bit of independence.

Breaking it down:

Beverley's SJW agenda SUCKS!!!!

Haslam's infernal meddling SUCKS!!!!

Both are destroying the university I love.

If the ruin athletics, we just stop supporting. It's simple. We'll send our disapproval by way of no support.

It's a, shame that our society has sunk so low

How much does Title IX play into the degradation of the football team? It was and still is the flagship sport of the school, but I know that "Lady" was taken off the moniker of the women's basketball team as a result of Title IX. My understanding of Title IX is that it equally distributed the money going to UT athletics and not just the one or two major sports.
