Most success overall. So pretty much who will be the last man standing. Be it two years, 3 years, 5, 10 and so on...Success overall at there respected schools.
Overall, I gotta say Pruitt. Homerism aside, I'm not sure Chad Morris will "fit" in well at Arkansas. Jimbo might do okay at ATM, but I have this feeling he's going to get in trouble about something (else) there. Luke and Moorehead are in Mississippi and, well, back to the basement they go.
Mullen would be my second choice.
i'm torn on JImbo. he followed bowden at FSU. could be that he's a phil fulmer(that's not a bad thing)...he took over a program in a pretty good spot. it's not like he built it. he maintained it.
i'm curious as to what he can do at aTm. everything's there to be successful. but man, they sure did pay him a bunch of money. wonder how that plays out with an 8-4 season? plus it's kinda crowded at the top of the West.
Yep. Kinda my thoughts on the matter as well. They will not accept any 7-5, 8-4 seasons there for what they are paying him. Double digit wins are the required floor for him and that won't be an easy task with Bama, LSU and Barn on any schedule.
Oh, and he has Clemson on the schedule the next two years in a home and home. And goes to UGA in 2019 as a cross conference match.
That'll be interesting.
Fisher, if aTm fans can hold out for not winning the division until Saban retires. I don't know if they will. You don't pay that kind of money to not win National Championships.
I think Moorehead is in the best situation. That team is set up nicely. Plus you Go bowling in Starkville and everyone is happy. Add to that the fact Ole Miss is probably a mess for the next few years and that's a good situation.
I think Mullen messed up leaving MSU. Making nearly 5M a year to win 7 games is a great gig. He did a great job for MSU, but that record won't fly in Gainesville. Florida fans will get mad quickly if they play second fiddle to UGA, and I don't see him beating Kirby very often. He doesn't have a track record of winning big games. Blame Starkville. Blame whatever you like. I'll believe he wins the SEC when I see it. And he won't survive more than 4 or 5 years w/o a title.
Pruitt? Who knows. Best case scenario is he is Kirby Smart 2.0 and we battle UGA for the East most years. Let's hope that's how it works out. I'm tired of coaching changes.
Why would you want to sit at a team and just only win 7 games when you can do more at a larger school? He has the brains and success to take a school with great resources and tradition to the top.
Mullen landed the easiest job for quick "success" given Florida's roster. Fisherr or Morris landed the worst jobs for year one success. Fisher because in his opening year he has to face Clemson as an OOC opponent, and will more than likely be favored to lose against Alabama, Auburn, and USCe. Morris is having to clean up Bielema's mess with the 14th ranked recruiting class in the SEC.
Moorehead and Luke don't even have to show any level of "success" as Mississippi State and its fans are fine averaging 7 wins/season as long as you occasionally get to 8-9 in a decade. Luke is a place-holder and everyone knows it, and expectations are much higher than trying not to have a worse season than 2017.
Pruitt is in the worst spot at the moment, following the worst season in recent history, and the poor player development under Butch and his staff. He'll probably show the least amount of success in year one, but the most out of all of them in year two if he is as good of a coach as we all hope.
my 2¢
I don't think he will win the East enough to satisfy Gator fans. I cannot see him winning the East in the next 3 years for sure, probably not 4. Do you think Gator fans will be content with that?
Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see. I don't think he'll win much more in Gainesville than he did in Starkville. Sometimes, when you continually win 8 games you're just an 8 win coach. Nothing wrong with that. It just won't fly in Gainesville.
Dumb question, IMO. Pruitt hasn't coached ONE game. If this is just a "guess"... it would have to be Fisher. Only NC winning coach on the list. AND he will have plenty of talent at A$M.
