It helps with hammer bite? Thumb won’t lay in there if you fire two handed?

I probably can’t find the scar any more but the first time I shot my brothers 1911 government I was forever taught about hammer bite. And the ******* watched my grip and let me shoot it. But I never did it again.

For some people, the spur hammer bites the web of the firing hand under recoil.

I don't mess around with 1911s that much. Other than the grips and whatnot. They are an extremely intolerant pistol to just any Bubba dicking around with the internals. There's a reason there are dozens of 1911 smiths, but only a few that folks will stake their reputation on.

You're off your game tonight, GV.

I just hit you with the "pull my finger trick", and you did.

But still, I'll get with you after I see the Trijicons on my Rock.

Yeah I had to think back. It wasn’t two handed. It was single handed. I got to thinking back when we did this I was like 13 I think. He then told me to rotate to a low thumb one hand hold after I got bit. Then for two hand had me do thumb forward on the support hand.

Again, hasn’t happened since so I guess big bro had a plan.

Need some recommendations. My trijjicon night sites on my G-21 are almost dead. (Born on date is June 1997) I need to replace the sites on it, and need to add sites to my new m&p shield. What is best, or is it all the same between trijjicon, truglo, or any other brands I don't know about?

Trijjicon and Meprolight are what I've had the best luck with.

GV, you got any contacts in the Las Vegas / Pahrump area? I'me having a fairly serious issue with Armscor/Advanced Tactical and my Rock 1911. They're had it since March 6th; I paid for the sights; and now they can't seem to tell me anything about the status of my gun.

Repeated emails and phone calls have been consistently met with "We'll look in to that and get back with you." And then crickets.

If you might can help, I'll go offline with you for the details. Otherwise, I'm kicking over the ATF beehive on this one.

Nobody on that level.

Keep kicking it up the chain. Normally Rock Island has a pretty good C/S department. I'd be asking for a sup and going up from there.

Dang, that was fast. All I had to do was send GV a post.

As God is my witness, I just got off the phone with Shawn (in charge of aftermarket armory) at Armscor. He was very polite. Said the delay was due to them having to order another front sight, as the original was shooting too low. Said my gun will ship tomorrow. Said I will have it Monday.

So we'll see.

Meanwhile, forget the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Santa, and Wishing Upon a Star...from now on, if I want something I just send GV a post.

:)

Normally I would...and do...refrain from saying anything about GV that might be remotely construed as complimentary or conciliatory. And anything that would qualify as "fawning" is definitely out. Never, ever, feed the bears...

In this case, however, the sheer coincidence offered an opportunity for a friendly shot across the bow...which of course I am morally obliged to take.

Plus, I do have a compassionate side, and I confess to experiencing a certain measure of sympathy for a gentleman who simply does not understand that anything with the "Colt" mark on it will outshoot anything that James Bond, Jason Bourne, or John Wayne ever dreamed of doing...and that a 1/9 twist will stabilize anything from a fly turd to a '57 Buick, to sub-MOA accuracy...in a hurricane.

It's not his fault. It's likely that the chemtrails have finally had their desired effect.

Y'all have a nice day.

Did he end the call with “ ... and please call that damn Okie off of me? Ok you got you’re gun call him off!!”

So...finally got to go shoot the different loads with my AR. Here 'tis:

- True 50 yard zero, using the Arma Dynamics Red Dot Optic Zero Target.
- Temp was mid-80's, with a quartering breeze from about my 5 o'clock.
- Bugs were bad, and direct sun was hot.
- Shot off a card table with a sandbag.
- First I dialed in with the Federal XM556SBCT (62gr JSP), which is my carry load.
- Took (3) 5-shot groups to get where I felt happy. I had a nice, tight 3-round group with an extreme spread of right at 1", so 2 MOA. One flyer at 12 o'clock, and one shooter error at 9 o'clock. It was apparent that my best 3 were where that round will hit if I'm true to the gun.
- Next, the Federal XM193 (55gr FMJBT). Shot a 10-round group using my established zero. All 10 rounds in a 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" box. So, 3 MOA at worst. Center of the "box" is about 1/2" high and 1" to the right of the 62gr JSP zero. But it's clear that the 1/9 twist really likes 55gr.
- Lastly, the XM855 (62gr FMJBT). Another 10-round group on the established zero. The "box" opened up a bit, to about 2" X 1 1/2", and in the same area as the 55gr FMJBT. This tracks with the CW that the 62gr green tips are not as accurate as the 55gr FMJBT's. Not much difference at 50 yards, but beyond 100 I'd have to account for that "drift".
- I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in this data. Nothing scientific about it; I just wanted to see what my gun did with different loads. The results today were nowhere near as good as my last go at this. For some reason, I just didn't feel "on" today. Still, I'm happy with the results.
- And I absolutely love that B5 stock. Perfect cheek weld. Thanks, GV.

* The 62gr JSP is a top-rated barrier-blind round, so that's where I'm keeping my zero. Not quite as accurate as I thought it would be, but 2 MOA accuracy (<1" at my likely max engagement range) is more than good enough.
* You could cover my best 7 rounds of the 55gr FMJ with a quarter. The barrel was good and warm by then, but that's 1 MOA accuracy out of a military round. I'm going to start shooting up the 62gr green tips, and stocking up on the 55gr FMJBT. I'll keep a case of the Federal Fresh Fire 30 cans of the 62gr FMJBT, just in case I need to shoot through a Cadillac, but my gun clearly loves the 55gr rounds.

Doubt if this will do any of you AR owners any good, but I promised to post it, so there it is.

Keep safe out there.

My bushy m4- bought new for $300 in ORC condition. Added a new quad rail, vortex optic with FH, forgrip, single point sling, tact flashlight upgraded pistol grip.

Got $700 In it. Stole it pretty much. Love it.

I can't afford to hire a plane circling Neyland Stadium with a banner that reads "GV was right; I was wrong.", so this will have to do:

GV was right; I was wrrrrrrrrr......rrrrrrrrr.......mistaken.

There.

Tends to be methods to my madness.

The M193 spec stuff is still as relevant today as it was when the M16 FOW came out. Provided, it isn't the latest, greatest barrier blind match round out there, but as a reasonably inexpensive, do a lot of things okay, but master at nothing round, it's hard to beat.
