Think some folks might be overreacting to what Pruitt actually said...

Just got back. I got stuck on the shuttle line/ride and didn't hear what he said. I heard some talk on the radio and thought he wasn't starting well criticizing fans when there was a good crowd there (IMO)

But this is fine. Nothing to see here. Just the truth.

My assessment of Pruitt is that he will either be the guy that’s gets us back, or his tenure here will be polarizing, ugly and short. I’m honestly not sure which at this point. He inherits an ok roster, but a rotten, unforgiving environment. My take continues to be that he doesn’t have a honeymoon period from fans or recruits - no one we hired would after the Schianomo. He’s also very blunt, and that may rub folks the wrong way. Some fans and players truly will quit on him pretty early on. I’m also not sure he has the make up to handle the inevitable 45-10 beatings we will take against better completion (UGA, Bama). Going to be a fascinating next few months and years.

I think he is a good coach and will do well here, but will sprint to Tuscaloosa if he gets the opportunity. Can’t blame him. It’s most every coaches dream to coach at their alma matter.

Same. I was going into the game expecting 50k. Was pleasantly surprised by the turnout

Vol fans are simultaneously some of the best AND some of the worst fans in college football. The sensitive whiners need to get over themselves. Good grief.

And I just want to take a second to give a shoutout to a specific poster:

Big Gucci Sosa

Wasn’t long ago that probably half this board was ready to put you on ignore. What a turnaround.

Great poster now. Brings info. Engages in discussion.

A true asset to the board.

:hi:
I still get grumpy

Some people will just never be able to get over JG pouting on the sidelines during that GT game.

Most of those people also choose to ignore the fact that Dormady quit on the team after JG took his job.

It’s probably the tattoos and the fact that he’s from up north.

Those same people better remember JG was promised he would play by Butch. I’d be pissed too.

Some may also perceive dogging the fanbase over not having 100k at the spring game as a form of sensitive whining.

I've been respectful to everyone I have engaged with today. So has LA Vol. As such, let me just say as to this matter, I respectfully disagree.

Carry on.

IMO, it’s much ado about nothing. To each his own I reckon.

We actually agree on that, believe it or not. I don't think it's a big deal we didn't pack the stadium today. I'm also not that bothered with Pruitt being upset about it. He's following the Saban method, and that means challenging the fanbase sometimes (and sometimes unfairly).

It did annoy me that some were latching on to this statement to rehash that old "the fanbase is the problem" saw that the media loves so much, so I thought I'd stick up for us a bit.

Didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way.

It's a concern of mine. One good thing about it though, we'll have been kicking rear end if Alabama comes after him. I hope he's here for 15 years.

CjP has ZERO feel for PR. If he doesn't win quickly it will be a Nightmare havin a bamer coaching us that has no skills outside the lines.
