Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

Wish I could've gone, but slammed with work right now. Still, seems sort of unprofessional to criticize the fans here. Even if you dial down the inflated numbers (say to 50K), we're still well within the top 10 for spring game attendance. And that's after a historically bad season.

for SEC after all todays games 2018 SEC spring game attendance numbers: Georgia once again tops conference not bad coming off a 4-8 season -- and the NCs cant outdraw Georgia ?

There's plenty enough people around Knoxville, don't have to drive far and not working, to have had a better crowd for a free event.

We want the players to work harder and "give their all" but many complain that it's too much effort to tailgate and hang out with some fellow fans for a few hours. A good list of recruits there today and wanted them to feel the environment.

But apparently it's justified because Butch went 4-8 last year.
Maybe he should have put a little effort into fan attendance then.

“Our fans today were like our football team. Some were here and doing great, some weren’t here for legitimate reasons, and some should have been here and weren’t. That sounds just like our team.”

- I was hoping that there was a keen, hidden intellect behind the Gomer Pyle facade. Alas, Goober comes forth..

- Thanks SEC network..awesome scheduling...almost like you wanted a **** Up presentation.

- Great to see players quitting, players yelling at the quitters, players protecting their draft status and stupid penalties galore...

- McElroy. What a peach..

When I see Nebraska getting almost 90k with a new head coach and Georgia selling out last year, I definitely think we can do better.

I like that coach Pruitt has just as much high expectations for us fans as he does the players. We'll show out more people next spring game.

I'm also proud of the people who did show up, we brought in more than Butch's first Spring Game!

The people complaining about CJP's comment will be the same people complaining when some of the recruits there today commit elsewhere.

And before I get some response like kids do not recruit based off attendance at a spring game, imagine if today Neyland was rocking like a home game in September.

This!

We can either accept the challenge and grow or hide like little cowards! Love this...

Go F'ck'n Vols

If this is true then Pruitt can absolutely suck it! To be top 3 in the SEC in attendance and top 5 nationally after coming off the worst season in program history and a complete clown show of a coaching search, I'm damn proud of our turnout today! Honestly Pruitt, get a clue!

Ome of the biggest red flags about Pruitt is that he is a hothead that shoots his mouth off a lot. I thought becoming a HC might humble him. Hopefullt the guy doesnt think he's actually Saban just because he's coached with him awhile. He's done absolutely nothing as a HC yet, obviously.
I'm guessing you weren't there today.

This is what I think CJP was talking about . I also believe there’s going to be a learning curb , if we want to compete against Georgia and Alabama . When you look at those two teams the word “ soft” or “underdeveloped “ does not come to mind .

This is something he learned from Saban, who is known to call fans out for not showing up and leaving early. Hey, do you want a football coach or a marketing intern??

I wouldn't be offended. I'd see this as more of a challenge.

And when it comes to challenges, I always have the mentality that the ones who do challenge us are the ones who care and the ones that don't, do not actually give a crap.

That's just my 2 cents though

Believe it or not, some of us work on Saturdays.

And some live in Texas AND work on Saturday. Not making excuses for my own non-attendance. Dang, if I wanted a day off from work or a week for that matter I only have myself (and a few customers) to answer to. But I see where he's coming from. Laying down the gauntlet to fans and players alike. Don't know that his comment about today's attendance will endear him to many fans, but he made his point, for better or worse. Go Big Orange!

It is. Tell the truth. We've had Jones lie so long. I love hearing truth.

He didnt tell the truth. He showed his ass over something he obviously has no perspective on. Geez I see the blind coach worship has already started with some. I want Pruitt to succeed here but I'm going to call his ass out too if I think he's wrong. In this case hes way out of line!

Pruitt is going to get Tennessee back to being Tennessee. Many folks on here haven't seen it in their life. The teams of the 80's and 90's and even before that. We need to get back to being a team that could run it right at you and then bam hit your with the big pass play. Defenses that could do it all, make the 3 and out's when you needed them and could make the big stand when you need it most. Teams that can get the big turnover or make the big play. Tennessee used to pride itself on it's toughness. Yes, we had speed and we were even WRU, but it was all off the run and the bullies up front. Offense and defensively hard nosed to the core. Somehow we got away from that, but it is the most important aspect of football. We have to get back to being bigger and faster and just plain old slobberknockin tougher. GBO!
