Raja Jubran withdrew his name for the same reason people settle lawsuits-- they don't want the scrutiny and want to keep certain things from being exposed. Some of the lawmakers developed a spine, helped along by unhappy constituents and their campaign funding.
thanks.
and no we shouldn't. but there is a sense of victim mentality here, that doesn't set well with me.
and in part of my lesson to my daughters, to do or not do, the other part of that lesson is also learning to live with the consequences of your decision. sometimes they'll be good, sometimes they'll be bad. it's still your choice that determines which.
and all of this is assuming there's no negligence by the organizers/company or whatever putting this on. if things are taken out of their(cheerleaders) control, then that's a different story. know what i mean?
It doesn't really sound like the cheerleaders control much.. And I don't know if we can call out a victim mentality if these ladies are actually victims. Yeah, they're signing up to be cheerleaders, but there's a difference between their team taking issues to heart when they arise, versus turning the other cheek. If it's the latter, then something's broken and needs to be fixed, and it doesn't lie with the cheerleaders.
Pruitt told a recruit we wont be very good this year, but we will next year. Nothing we didn't know but I found that interesting. He's certainly more honest than Butch.
Im sure he didnt say we arent going to be any good. No coach says that about their team. Obviously he probably explained the challenges of depth and schedule but Im sure he didnt come out and say we arent going to be any good.
On a gorgeous Thursday afternoon, Tennessee took the practice field in preparation for Saturdays evening scrimmage.
Unlike a week ago, the Vols worked out in full pads today. The team did its usual positional drills while the media was out there, with continued emphasis on fundamentals and technique. As has been the case all spring, Will Friend, Tracy Rocker and Chris Rumph were particularly animated with their groups.
After a slew of position changes Tuesday, most of the guys remained at their experimental spots. Only Princeton Fants audition at MLB was short-lived. The sophomore was back with the RBs on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Greg Emerson, Matthew Butler and Eric Crosby all remained with a shorthanded offensive line. Crosby and Emerson were working as guards, while Butler was with the tackles.
Elsewhere, Tyler Byrd remained at wide receiver (repping behind Josh Palmer on the outside), Alontae Taylor at CB and Latrell Bumphus at DL.
With some of the injuries at the OL, Thursdays first-team group (L-R) was Drew Richmond, Ryan Johnson, Brian Garvey, Jerome Carvin/Ollie Lane and Marcus Tatum.
I didnt see much of the routes on air period today, but several coaches did praise Will McBride for a couple nice tosses. Jarrett Guarantano threw two perfect middle seam routes to the slot receivers. The only drop I saw Thursday from a scholarship guy was by Jordan Murphy.
Interestingly, Darrin Kirkland was doing individual drills with the rest of the middle linebackers Thursday. The senior displayed no ill effects from his recent knee procedure during the brief media viewing period.
THIS & THAT
Chance Hall was in The Pit working on the side, just doing light band work unlike the circuit workout with his injured teammates.
Chris Rumph was quite displeased with the OLBs pad level during one drill, making Deandre Johnson and Austin Smith redo a drill multiple times.
2019 South Florida DL Jordan Jefferson watched practice Thursday.
i don't think he is, but he has a very solid point.
and it's a point i talk to my daughters about specifically....about valuing yourself enough to do, or not do, as YOU see fit....
Well you're a good father. Unfortunately not all parents teach their children the right way. I stand by my point that we shouldn't be belittling these women for "finally" standing up.
thanks.

agreed.
I tried to pull this whole conversation.
1. I do not blame the ladies for finally standing up. It is just that they sound as if they have had zero recourse up to this point. False. They had options. Stop being a cheerleader. File complaints with team upon and demand action. File lawsuit if/when action does not happen.
2. I get what you are saying about society and I agree. However, are we saying that not a single one of these ladies for all these years has ever not wanted to stand up against this until now. It is weird.
3. I have three daughters. I teach them to respect others and demand respect in return. We teach them to dress appropriately and that their body is theirs and nobody else's. Nobody is allowed to touch them in a way that they don't approve and there are actions to take if it ever happens.
4. I think these ladies genuinely enjoy cheering but the cheerleading "profession" has basically become go-go dancing. They aren't trying to inspire the fan base to cheer on the team. They are dancing in the tiniest outfits that can be found and often in what I refer to as stripper shoes/boots. They look like strippers and we are surprised when drunk idiots think they are strippers? It doesn't make it right but changes could be made if they all banded together and demanded it.
I don't know. I just have very mixed feelings about these sorts of issues.
I don't find it that hard to believe. He inherited dogsht for a team.
He's genuine. Kids appreciate it and trust him for it. It's smart though, if you think about it. Develops trust. If he says we will be good this year and better the next year just to excite recruits in the short term, when we inevitably bomb this year, it will destroy any trust he created with the recruits. Not smart and a very butch jones way of operating.
But if he is straightforward & honestly states that he doesn't think we will be very competitive, but will be the next year, when we aren't competitive, kids will see that and the trust will only strengthen because he was being honest. If he overachieves and we surprise some folks and win a few more games than expected, it's icing on the cake because that just means we will be THAT much better the upcoming year and Pruitt's a genius.
