Raja Jubran withdrew his name for the same reason people settle lawsuits-- they don't want the scrutiny and want to keep certain things from being exposed. Some of the lawmakers developed a spine, helped along by unhappy constituents and their campaign funding.

Basilio covered this today. Said Jubran and the board members went to Nashville expecting a rubber stamp and got ambushed.

Wow. Is this an actual sign of progress for the BOT or will he and the Haslams ooze their way back in somehow?

I don't listen to Basilio... but he's right. They got more than they bargained for. Representatives have been taking heat from donors. Campus politics is a straw man. It's really about business dealings and money trails that some people don't want followed.

Apparently, they dress provocatively, are compensated with trips and publicity but very little money, and get groped by old drunk guys as they stroll from tailgate to tailgate.

I mean, I don't like the thought of these girls getting fondled by drunk dudes but have none of them thought to bring it up before now? This whole "That's just what the policy said" crap is BS. Either you value yourself enough to not take that kind of crap or you don't. It shouldn't take a nationwide movement to finally give you the courage to stand up for yourself.

Of course I'm not a lady so I doubt I am permitted to have an opinion about this. #metoo #menarethedevil

There are a lot of messed up things about our society, and have been for a very long time. Don't get mad at the girls for finally standing up. Don't demonize them for finally saying "stop".

haslam will never go away. but the "free reign" HOH had is likely over. you can't remove all that influence, from such a powerful, and resourceful, family.

but there does certainly seem to be a changing of the guard in regards to who gets say in what, when and how.

LSS, the cherry picking, and placement, of people by HOH, is likely done. will HOH still be part of the decision making processes? yeah, most likely.

feels like a check and balances type deal more than anything to me.

i don't think he is, but he has a very solid point.

and it's a point i talk to my daughters about specifically....about valuing yourself enough to do, or not do, as YOU see fit....

The Haslams, and their money, can stay. It's their totalitarian influence that I want gone. Big Jim was essential in laying the foundation of this program but Jimmy looks as if he learned everything from dad, and then did the exact opposite--or at least yielded the exact opposite results.

I'm hopeful that that is what is happening...but I'm not holding my breath. People with that sort of semi-unchecked power over such a long period of time don't take this lying down...they'll look to find new ways to reclaim the throne, or a large portion of it.

well, i think if there was going to be any regaining the throne, we'd of seen sigmon introduced as the interim AD, not fulmer.

and given this news reported today, and the fulmer extension, i'd say their influence has been at least tempered.

Compton can pick up where Jubran left off. And Haslam will appoint a replacement. They still have numbers, but it's definitely progress. It's heartening to see some of the politicians realize they work for the people who voted them into office.

safe to say i don't think this bill went as planned.

Well you're a good father. Unfortunately not all parents teach their children the right way. I stand by my point that we shouldn't be belittling these women for "finally" standing up.

Bama has some of their offensive skill players like Davonta smith( game winning TD) and slate bolden taking defensive snaps this spring. Saban said it was for emergency purposes during the season.... so we see where Pruitt got it from

Not as hoped, no, but I think everybody knew that Jubran would withdraw before putting up with much questioning. Compton was the insurance. I'm sure Bill has a backup appointee that can pass scrutiny. Then there are several moves they can make to keep the numbers. It's a fascinating chess match, really.

thanks.

and no we shouldn't. but there is a sense of victim mentality here, that doesn't set well with me.

and in part of my lesson to my daughters, to do or not do, the other part of that lesson is also learning to live with the consequences of your decision. sometimes they'll be good, sometimes they'll be bad. it's still your choice that determines which.

and all of this is assuming there's no negligence by the organizers/company or whatever putting this on. if things are taken out of their(cheerleaders) control, then that's a different story. know what i mean?

agreed. but seriously, how much chess have they had to play in the last 10-15 years?
