You said tonight (on radio) that in your opinion the season will be greatly impacted by 3 players:

Trey Smith
Chance Hall
K’Rojhn Calbert

-Price

Having Smith, Calbert AND Hall would be incredible.

Somehow having all 3 of those guys healthy and ready to go would be huge.

Calbert has as much or more potential as any OL not named Trey Smith in our roster.

Getting Hall back would give us way more options on what to do with our starting 5.

I'm so with you, man. No idea why people get so beaten down and let it ruin their fandom. I mean, we only have so many Saturdays in the fall to watch our favorite teams. We have a new staff, new hope! I'm pumped to watch Pruitt's boys compete this fall. Sounds like at the very least they'll be fundamentally sound, tough SOB's out there, or they'll be on the bench. I'm ready to cheer for a team like that.

People already writing this season and/or Pruitt off really should rethink what they're doing here and maybe go find another hobby. This might not be a good fit. JMO

GO BIG MFING ORANGE

Who's writing Pruitt off?

Muschamp is an awful coach so even if SC roster is better than ours, it gets completely offset due to their coaching. I just wish it was in Neyland.

What??

An awful coach doesn’t lead South Carolina to 9 wins and 2nd place in the East. Crazy talk.

Someone remind me what happened with Chance Hall? Was it just can't stay healthy? Knee, back, neck, what's the issue?

I know he tore his Achilles in high school, and I think he had knee surgery this spring. Honestly he should probably go on a medical scholarship.

this. achilles healed up well enough somehow yet the knee has given him prolonged trouble. Hoping the surgery cleaned everything up but like a few others mentioned, my hopes are not high for CH. Love the kid, but it's beginning to look a bit reminiscent of Tiny Richardson

Do you think some of it is risk vs reward? Maybe he didn't think it was worth coming back to play for Butch but willing to give it a shot with the new staff? Was odd he waited so long to have surgery. So he may want it more than before possibly?

We still haven't beaten the guy. He's basically Nick Saban when it comes to playing the Vols. Actually better, as Fulmer beat Saban once when he was at LSU.

I thought the same thing. It’s possible.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm hopeful Pruitt is the answer but after three failed experiments, my blind allegiance is gone. I'm to the point of prove it to me.

Don’t take this the wrong way because I’m not trying to be a jerk but I don’t understand this line of thinking. What does it really mean? You are gonna be less of a fan until Pruitt proves he can win?

This article is from last August before the season. He got here with a torn achilles but still managed to start the final 7 games as a freshman. Then had knee surgery right before 2016 season and missed 3 games then came back for a while before missing the end of the season with the same knee. Then right before 2017 season was reported out for season for a knee surgery. There were some reports that he never had the surgery until Pruitt got here.

Knee injury sidelines Tennessee starting OT Chance Hall for the year - CBSSports.com

Junior right tackle Chance Hall will miss the season with a knee injury, coach Butch Jones confirmed Friday night.

"He's going to have surgery and he'll have a redshirt year," Jones said. "He'll come back and he'll be stronger than ever for it, but he'll be out."

Hall battled through injuries to start 13 games over the last two seasons at right tackle, including six in 2016. He had arthroscopic surgery last August, which forced him to sit for the first three games. He played the next six before the same knee forced him out for the rest of the year and limited him this spring.

no, i think he's just done believing he's gonna do great things because we hired him.

i am in the same boat i guess. i think CJP is doing good things, and if a little patience is used, i think we could be sitting here in a year or two with a pretty damn good football program again.

but i think some of us have thought that about at least 2 of the previous three coaches as well, and it just hasn't worked out.

i know i felt pretty good about kiffin after year 1, know how that ended, and even with Butch, after 2014, i figured 15 and 16 had a real shot at being really good, especially after the recruiting classes he brought in...and we know how that ended.

some are just reluctant to believe right now, 5 months in to the CJP era, with what seems like a fairly steep hill in front of us to climb.

i get that. but i "feel" better about this staff than i ever did about Jones' staffs. but i also know that this season doesn't look like it's going to be anything special.

so, it's wait and see. don't know about 'prove it' so to speak, but i definitely get the 'wait and see' notion.

I just don’t see how it changes anything. Whatever happens is gonna happen regardless of fans not giving him a “free pass”.

No, I'm on board with Pruitt. I'm just extremely skeptical that he'll turn it around. He's doing and saying all the right things. But, we've been through this before. I do believe CJP is an upgrade from Butch.

What he said.

In addition to Pruitt, we have a new AD, new (real) S&C coach, commitment to winning. I think it will take time, but we are much better off today than the circus we've been watching the last few years.

Maybe it's just how you worded that but I don't see how you are on board with him if you don't believe he can turn it around. Do you think he's just another bridge to a better coach?

Tbh the “commitment to winning” is more important than any coach we could’ve hired. We have so much more staff and brains in general around football now that it will elevate any coach we could’ve hired. Luckily we already hired a great defensive mind as HC
