So you believe rights come from our creator and not from government?

Why do you not simply answer direct questions? Granted, if you were capable of such, this thread would’ve been a lot shorter.

I believe some rights are self evident. (not necessarily from a "creator"). The right to own a gun is NOT one of these rights. The right to own a gun would be given by the government. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness supersedes all governmentally granted rights.

So you have a right to life and liberty, but not a right to use a gun to defend either.

I believe I have an obligation (more pronounced than a right) to defend myself and my family.

Everybody has an obligation to defend themselves and their family. Doesn't mean I have the right to bury land mines in my yard.
 
I've always supported the right of people having guns to defend themselves. (but it is a government granted right and not an unalienable right)

If a "right" must come from the government, it's not a right. It's a privilege that can be restricted or revoked at any time.

The right to own a gun is merely an extension of property rights. You don’t see property rights as self evident?

Edit: I forgot to add your natural right to self defense. That’s the other right which gun rights are also merely an extension of. Both your property rights and right to self defense

So I agree with you. The original BoR codified basic rights the government shall not infringe upon. They are basically “shall nots”. The constitution wasn’t going to be ratified until these off limits rights were explicitly stated.

And 2a isn’t going to be repealed. Ever.

I've stated MULTIPLE times I support the right to own a gun for self defense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also don't believe property rights or the right to self defense gives you the right to bury land mines in your yard or carry a machine gun into Neyland Stadium.

You should have the right to bury landmines on your property. The university is the owner of Neyland and their gun policy is theirs to make.

That’s big of you Luth. But as a right your opinion isn’t required. Neither is mine. It stands on its own merits.

Your rationalization to give the government administration power over a right thus dillutes it to more like a privilege then. That’s wrong. Many people believe NFA 1934 is over reaching.

So take your reasonable and rational crap elsewhere. There are already too many gun laws. We’re gonna vehemently fight anymore.
