I'm a golfer (not a good one) and a golf fan. I watch when Tiger is there and when he's not. I am still excited he is there and seems to be playing well leading up to it. And if he is in contention it will probably be more exciting because he is one of the best to ever play the game. I'm also a big Spieth fan and hope he's involved. But I think Rory is gonna win this one. He is just playing so well right now.

I am in this boat, too. I have played golf since I was 8 or 10. I was lucky enough to have a Dad who was a member at a club for a while. I will watch majors either way, but I enjoy it more when Tiger is involved.

Phil Steele put out a list of the top 50 true freshman D-linemen in the country. Greg Emerson comes in at #8.

2017 Top 50 True Freshman DL’s and their Impact on the season. – Phil Steele

And out of that list, none of our opponents have a True Freshman DL listed higher.

Kentucky's Marquan McCall at 12;
Alabama's Stephon Wynn at 15;
South Carolina's Rick Sandidge at 16;
Auburn's Coynis Miller at 33;
WVU's Dante Sills at 35;
Georgia's Jordan Davis at 39.

Surprisingly, D'Andre Litaker at 36 and not so surprisingly, Brant Lawless at 43.

You know you are having a bad day at the course when you go all Tin Cup on a Par 5. Former Masters winner Sergio Garcia with a 13, yes, a 13 on #15. He rebounds with a birdie on #16. Tip of the cap to you, Sergio. You make us duffers feel proud.

Augusta National is awesome.

I am not a Sergio fan and kinda laughed when I saw that he put it in the water 5 times. Then, I saw the highlights of it. That was rough. All 5 were about pin high and rolled into the water.

Tennessee held its eighth practice of the spring Thursday, with hundreds of high school coaches in attendance for the weekend clinic.

The Vols were back in shells — just helmets and shorts — in preparation for Saturday’s first spring scrimmage.

Today was clearly a fundamental focus day while we were out there for 7-8 short minutes. Not much contact work at all.

* Tennessee’s DBs did various ball-tracking drills (like the ones you’d see at the NFL Combine) and also added a fumble scoop and score drill.

* The RBs did two different agility + ball security drills. At one point, the RBs were holding 2 footballs with coaches slapping them with pads as they ran by. G did a similar drill last year.

* Will Friend was ALL OVER Ryan Johnson on his footwork today, as Tennessee’s OL coach is working overtime to make sure Johnson is ready to assume the full-time role as the starting center. Meanwhile, freshman Jerome Carvin and Ollie Lane continue to cross-train at RG.

* The routes on air period was a bit shorter than usual, with too many balls hitting the ground — mainly due to drops. Jarrett Guarantano was crisp, but Will McBride probably had his best day throwing the ball all spring. Marquez Callaway, Jordan Murphy, Jacquez Jones, Latrell Williams and Josh Palmer all had at least one drop today. David Johnson screamed multiple times, “ TWO HANDS” when several of UT’s receivers tried to simply snag a pass with one arm. Junior Brandon Johnson continues to be the smoothest WR out there. He doesn’t drop anything, runs sharp routes.

* Didn’t see much of the DL or OLBs today, but Tracy Rocker did give some subtle praise to Greg Emerson during one rep.

THIS & THAT

* The high school coaches in attendance all received sporty Vol backpacks.

* Hoops recruit DJ Burns was spotted on his OV at practice. Grant Williams is his host.

* For the third straight practice, Dillion Bates was working exclusively with the ILB.

i've been told Dillon Bates looks like a new player out there. Taking reps with 1's now more frequently.

I have a feeling we'll see more of these stories of guys we thought were busts starting to show out. Good to here about bates.
