Unless proven wrong by performance, at this point I do think Fulmer made a good hire.

I keep going back to the kids who say Pruitt is the best coach they ever had. You don't really hear that often (I never heard that about Butch, for example). I have heard it about Cutcliffe, and he went on to be a very good head coach and play for his conference championship at a place like Duke.

Pruitt and Cut are both gifted at coordinating, and have done that to a National championship. (Pruitt several times) I think Pruitt will be a much better recruiter than Cutcliffe, but like him, he seems to really trust in the staff he's hired.

All well and good, but I’m a skeptic until results start coming in- both recruits and wins. Especially with the emphasis on recruiting, I want to see significant progress there.

They knew Doeren was a bad hire but they were gonna do it anyway.

Thankfully we have someone in charge who cares now.

That pisses me off. Knew the dude was mediocre but hell we'll hire him anyway because at the end of the day we really don't care about winning that much.

I’m kinda surprised they realized he sucked.

Bottom line is that this thing showed how much the UT athletic department cared about winning. Zero.

So apparently Steve Spurrier called Currie after Jones was fired. It was a voice mail so no text. Currie sent him a message asking him to call back now or after 12pm.

Nah, just took my turn working in the White House. Got axed this week. Who knew Political Fantasy Camp was so expensive?

You had one job! Keep all the whores quiet! Good luck catching on at that other House...the Waffle!

love the song Cat. keep up the good work man.

Gotta agree. I was prepared to give a VN like regardless of how it sounded but there was no need. I think it's great. The video is a perfect fit for the song.

Catbone, you no longer have any excuses to be VN's little dark rain cloud. This is honestly good ish. :)

Disgraceful. So glad we have a true Volunteer running this AD now. I'm honestly already concerned with what they'll do after Phil retires.

On Currie stuff...

I think you could have fired for cause and paid nothing but there would have been a court battle there and not worth it so I think 2.5 million is not bad considering by contract he was owed over 5 to be fired without cause.

What I took from it is that the timeline reported as it went wasn't crazy off. To me the messages read that Mullen was the first place Currie was going and maybe a deal could have gotten done if Kelly says yes to Gators. Schiano was clearly the second choice and Currie desperately wanted to get that done on Sunday.

I'm not sure why he was in such a rush. No school was going to steal Schiano out from under him. We don't know what the phone calls were like on Sunday when DiPietro and Currie spoke. Based on emails which included draft releases that were composed on Saturday, they wanted a 4pm Sunday press conference with Mullen or Schiano. Gundy was third on the pecking order.

We knew it at the time and the lack of text/emails back it up that Currie didn't grasp the PR fallout with Schiano and the magnitude of needing a plan to try and sell it/overcome it. A story from a national writer was not enough of a plan.

Moving past Schiano when Gundy said no, feels like some panic started setting in. Currie asks Doeren's agent if they can just fly him to Knoxville then comes back, no that's too fast. Then Currie after interviewing Doeren, who emailed Currie before the search started expressing interest in the job, doesn't reply to Doeren's agent the next morning as he's off to LA. Just seems there was no plan at that point all scramble. And that's when Davenport and DiPietro had enough.

The fact that he told Davenport that he wasn't going to talk to Jubron about the search backs up his wish for privacy but that obviously wasn't a savvy move. He did the same with Charlie Anderson and that decision was a costly one for Currie on that Wednesday before he was called home on Thursday.

Bottom line, Currie was going Mullen first. Then Currie and his small group didn't vet out the PR impact of hiring Schiano. Gundy simply wouldn't come. They probably over thought Doeren as there were texts expressing social media backlash. Not say they should have hired him, but I think Currie talked himself out of hiring Doeren. Then when he couldn't be found for 6 hours. No one on campus knew if Doeren was happening or was dead only to learn Currie had bolted Raleigh for LA. It was at that point, it was over.

Not sure if that all makes sense.

Alot happened in a week, please follow up with any other questions.

Tim Burchett called Currie to give him a tip and left that tip in a private voice box. This is what Currie wrote back and if he's referring to what I think he's referring to he deserved to get burnt. Man was playing with fire with this kind of attitude:

Outgoing 11/15/2017 16:11(UTC+0) From:*** Thanks for msg and heads up!! It is true! My wife is taking my father‐in‐law, my out of town
cousins and our friends jason and jessica legg to dinner there... 😂 but lets let the rumor mill
go wild with that*‐*maybe some one will buy our drinks !

-------------------------------

FWIW, Ainge had warned him earlier that same day that the Grumors needed to be put to bed and said that if he couldn't say anything then Ainge could just say on the radio not to buy into Grumors.

No mention of Brohm...

So much of that crap was agents taking advantage of Currie’s ineptness.

Currie told Davenport in a text that the rumor we offered Chip Kelly was a ploy by his agent Trace Armstrong to get leverage.

Brohm was in a kid’s house recruiting when Jimmy broke news 😂.

Could not have screwed this up any worse if they had tried.

Currie was an arrogant fool that was in way over his head. I can't believe people that clueless can be paid that kind of money.

Currie didn't have full support for Schiano. When it started going south, important people were against him and his supporters were quick to distance themselves.
