I'm nowhere near the fan I used to be and nowhere near the caliber you guys are, but I agree with this to an extent. The 1.5 mile tracks are killer for me for starters. I get the Darlington and N. Wilkesboro are small, but those were my favorite tracks growing up, not counting Bristol since I lived just 20 minutes away. I didn't care that much for Charlotte or Atlanta before California, Vegas, Kansas, Texas, Miami and Chicago came along. I have never been to any live event more boring than the 2013 Coca Cola 600.
That said, I'm torn on the cars themselves. I don't know why they get new packages every year, but the similarities bring some of the excitement down. I wish they could be a little more interpretive with the rules to allow more individualized tinkering. But I get it financially. Penske, Gibbs and Hendricks have all the money. The sport needs the Wood Bros, Furniture Row, etc on the low end to be competitive, not to mention how important it is to keep the middle class guys like Stewart-Haas, Rousch, RCR and Petty in the fold.
I honestly don't understand the point system at all anymore. I never liked the idea of the Chase, but the segments and everything else nowadays, I'm lost trying to figure all that out.
