#BoycottNRA

OK... I'm done with you. You aren't even being intellectually honest. At least when you asked the same regarding prescription drugs, I admitted you might see an uptick.

But somehow, you think unlimited/unregulated abortions would make the current situation better?

You're a joke.

I absolutely did not say unregulated. Abortions should be heavily regulated.

My general premise is this: The fewer unwanted pregnancies we have as a society, the better. I could go into a lot more detail about demographics (age, economics) and prenatal care, but I'll save us both the time. My opinion is that one of the most detrimental impacts to our society is the number of unwanted babies being born to parents unwilling and or unable to properly care for a child. On top of this, as a society, we have been unwilling to step in to do the things necessary to help the babies that are born into this circumstance. It's a vicious cycle that if left unchecked leads to very undesirable outcomes. Extrapolate the past 30 years.

Obviously another discussion for another thread.

You know what is funny. No matter how much you try to regulate abortion, it still comes down to an individual decision (or in this case, two individual decisions).

Just like no matter how much you try to regulate guns, it still comes down to an individual decision.

Do you think that maybe the problem in both instances comes down to proper parenting and a lack of accountability?

Basically, luther thinks having no limits on a Constitutionally protected right will be bad for society, but having unlimited abortions will make society better.

Are you saying life is or isn't a constitutionally protected right greater than the right to choose which firearm you want?

What do you mean by 'two individuals'?

Would be mother and father?

In one of the other founding documents, it mentioned the 3 inalienable rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

The right to live and defend your life is woven into the fabric of the Constitution.

I'm not sure where you are going with this... :ermm:

I'm talk about it takes two to conceive the baby. Not two people to go to the abortion clinic.

His concern wasn't about women having abortions. He stated his concern was for unwanted pregnancies.

I just want other people to stop telling me what I can or can't have or what I can and can't do.

Do you get annoyed when you have to slow down to 15 mph when passing an elementary school? I think some people do but I consider them irrational and unreasonable.

In the context of this thread and how it relates I heard it in my head like “Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy”

The fact that we are still bogged down in Afghanistan for nearly 2 decades is all the proof you need.

I thought we were presupposing a tyrannical government hell-bent on preserving it's power. That's hardly how the US has acted in Afghanistan. Additionally, while there's been a resistance in Afghanistan, it's hardly presented a threat to the US government. And what has it won the resistance but death and destruction.

Remember, we're supposed to be talking about overthrowing a tyrannical government, not acting as gnats that have to be occasionally swatted away.

Why don’t you use heroin? Or meth? Because it’s illegal?

Are you convinced most Americans are simply waiting for a policy change so they can start shooting up?

It’s the same with guns. Access to guns doesn’t determine if you’re going to kill someone or not. If you intend to kill someone, you’ll find a way. If you intend to use drugs you’ll find a way. Legality doesn’t change that

Bump for Luther.

Are you suggesting that the kids that were killed should have all been armed? Society has been set up so they can Pursue Life, Liberty, and Happiness without guns because adults are the protectors. When the NRA tries to convince you that we need more guns so we can outgun the ones that wish them harm is a joke. When they push their agenda against common sense things like a background check system that works, and allowing crazy violent people to have guns, they are endangering the basis of the Constitution. The very foundation of what we as Americans hold dear. If it's a gun you hold dear most then you are the danger.

When I say you, I don't mean you, I mean an individual. By seeing some of these post on this board I can see the majority are just looking out for themselves and neglect the societal obligations that made the constitution work for centuries.

If you don’t want so many single mothers, don’t subsidize single mothers. If you subsidize corn, you get more corn. If you subsidize single mothers, you get more single mothers.

Absolutely. That is partially why I'm lead to the conclusions I have drawn.

Abortion is one remedy, albeit the worst, to unwanted pregnancies.

Bump for Luther.

The illegality of drugs caused me to use illegal drugs less than I otherwise would have.

I choose not to use illegal drugs now because I know the risks, understand the dangers, and avoided complete addiction when I was younger because they were illegal.

Some people are wise enough to make the right choice regardless of legality, but many are not. Of the ones who are not, many do it anyway and many avoid it because of the illegality.

If there were no speed limits and people were left to use their best judgment, many would still drive safely, but many others would choose to speed (especially the young and the stupid).

All the same applies to guns.
