3 months from now, Jon Q Whitey or Abu Jihad go into a post office and kill a few people.

What will your response be? Are you going to give your legislation time "to work"? Or will you demand more bans?

I hope I never just shrug my shoulders at the murder of innocent kids.

The philosophy that the gun nuts have of "if you can't stop them all, then you shouldn't try to stop any" is asinine. It's a ridiculous argument, right up there with "cars kill more so why don't we ban cars", or "if we give an inch they will try to take a mile because we all know what they really want is to take all of our guns away."

Stupid arguments not worthy of a debate between 9 year olds.

I'll give it time. There will always be people on the left wanting more and people on the right wanting less. The hope is a reasonable compromise, which is not what we have presently.

Jon Q. Whitey and Abu Jihad have a lot in common by the way. (a much more interesting debate)

That sounds nice, but if one of those other guns you don't seem to be bothered with is used instead, what exactly are you doing?

Of course this all has to be noted under the idea that the guns are the problem.

Pennsylvania Church to Bless Couples Toting AR-15 Rifles - The New York Times

A Pennsylvania-based offshoot of the Unification Church is encouraging couples to bring their AR-15 rifles with them to a commitment ceremony in the Pocono Mountains, a half-mile from an elementary school.
World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland said it planned the Feb. 28 ceremony months ago, well before last week's massacre at a Florida high school. Authorities say the alleged gunman used an AR-15 in the attack that killed 17.
Tim Elder, the Unification Sanctuary's director of world missions, said Tuesday the church believes the AR-15 symbolizes the "rod of iron" mentioned in the Bible's apocalyptic book of Revelation.
The church website directs couples to show up to the ceremony with an AR-15 "or equivalents such as an AK semiautomatic rifle, representing both the intent and the ability to defend one's family, community ... "

This is stupid. The AR-15 likened to anything in the Bible is just to antagonize other people and is pretty much idiotic. I realize they scheduled this before the shooting last week. But they really ought to consider cancelling it in light of recent events. I mean, they should not have scheduled it because it is the definition of being backwards morons, but whatever on that.
