Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Know what happened in Britain when they had a rash of stabbings after they banned guns? They tried to ban pointy knives. There is no finish line with these folks.

Don't ask me to explain but I wound up watching a couple videos of Brits shooting rats with airguns. It's very popular over there since hunting is pretty much banned. It mentioned in the video that the government was reviewing air gun laws due to "abuse". Single shot air guns. That they use to kill rats and pigeons with. I guess rocks would be next.

Any gun that would kill as efficiently and easily as the AR 15 should be banned.

You'd save more lives if you said beer and alcohol shouldn't be sold to individuals. Purchaseable only at bars.

And if you said breathalyzer interlocks were mandatory for all vehicles and they must be retrofitted.

Why doesn't the left take up that cause? That would actually achieve something right?

Bouncing Bettys down the hall. Doubt if they get past them.

IED's in the driveway and out back by the pool.

I also have paint cans hanging from the staircase and a blowtorch attached to a string next to the front door.

I'm of the belief that having lights n' lasers actually takes away your greatest advantage. You know your home better than anyone, why give up your position in the dark?

Don’t use a red dot/laser. Use a holographic weapon sight. I have an EOTech EXPS-2 on my Colt. The light is handy and you don’t have to use it. Got one of those mounted on the Colt too.

You don't have to turn it on but I'm of the opinion that I want to know who/what I'm shooting at. The light is meant to blind and disorient. Some strobe and studies show that it really disorients the person. I've heard stories where people shot loved ones accidentally. Would hate to make that mistake.

LOL, no. Unless you live on a damn 10 acre ranch, by yourself maybe. I'll take my Mossberg 500 cqb all day in an urban neighborhood.

Shooting 00 buck in your home has very deadly consequences for persons on the other side of walls. Loaded correctly the AR is the perfect home defense platform. Why do you think swat and other law enforcement groups use it? You know I’m no fan of the cops, so...

Yep, no finish line with these folks.

Because you’d like to identify who you’re shooting.

Theres also a lot to be said for a pump action scatter gun. There is no other sound in the world like that slide action. And if the intruder doesn’t leave upon hearing it I say it’s a free fire zone.

The only time I want an intruder to know I have a gun is when there are three hulls in the air, and three holes in his shirt.

Criminals have been known to shoot at sounds and such, better off not giving up your position.

Valid counter points.

My primary choice is my Glock 35 with Trijicon night sights.

I am yes. 100%

I’ll skip past many of the arguments and go straight to conceding a few points, followed up by a question.

Time and time again, we unfortunately see/read news of another tragic mass killing, often times enabled by the deployment of an AR-15 style weapon/platform.

Why do we keep seeing the AR-15 platform being utilized for mass murder?

It’s an incredibly easy platform to operate.
It’s an incredibly efficient platform as well.

It’s also everywhere. The AR-15 is ubiquitous. There are over 8M in circulation.

If we were to ban them, would it just be production? If ownership, how would we collect them?

I understand, that's precisely why I wouldn't want to use a rifle inside.

I've sold everyone I've ever purchased/built. :)

Add 3D printing into the mix.

I briefly thought about debating you on this because I find humor in that. But it was too soon and couldn't do it with a straight face...

I didn’t see your post. I agree with you.

Using an AR platform for home defense is a terrible idea.

Maybe a AR is the tip of the spear for a seasoned SF operator, but I have kids and neighbors.

Maybe there was a glut of AR's in inventory and this was a quick way to help with sales?

No, Mr. Lamb is a very respectable person. It’s 2018 not 1918. Thinking changes and technology is ever expanding.

I will say the average person shouldn’t go down the hallway, if they know an intruder is in the house. Call 911 and wait for the police. However, if your kids are at the end of that hallway, you’ll go down there. Proper training and mindset is key.

That's probably true and I'd also go as far as to say that the best weapon to use in any situation is the one that the user is most comfortable with. I personally wouldn't be OK with sending rifled rounds through my house with kids all over.

On a 10 acre ranch with no kids, a belt fed minigun is the right home defense option.

Simple ole 12 gauge will suffice here :wink2:
