Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Ok let clarifly, please almost everytime i (happen) to watch the TV i constantly see the straight white male portrayed as either incompetent,jerk-offish,cruel,and or buffoonish. Don't even get me started on the political part the equation. that where alienation, resentment, etc comes in to play which leads to eventually "abnormal" behavior

(and for record i didn't see this part conversation for whatever reason considering that this tread is 170+ pages long!)

I know a bunch of my buddies that I would label that way. Pretty sure Luther would label me that way. But I don’t think a single one of my buddies would do this and if one did I’d advocating shooting him on the spot and hold him accountable.

We’re the easy target. We’re the majority amount. I think it’s a discrediting approach personally. And I’m NOT playing the victim card to be clear.

I think it’s hilarious. I work for everything I own and I always get a crack out of some random guy asking me how much my daddy paid for my car or how much he helped me put down for my house etc. all white males or people are born privileged we don’t even have to work. In all seriousness yes we are the easy target, the media has a lot to do with that

I have been noticing the portrayal of the white male for years. I'm glad someone else picked up on it. Generally, a female or a minority is the competent one and sets the poor dolt straight.

You know how it is. If someone has something better (not saying white males in general are always better) but if someone has something better people will say it’s bc of special treatment or priveleges although occasionally that may be true, but people refuse to acknowledge hard work and give props where they’re due.

i didn't mean to take this off the rails, because to me this is A LOT deeper that gun control, mental health and even the media.

Try buying and selling houses like that. Your property transaction is duly recorded at the courthouse.

Don't have to record your property transactions unless there is a lien on it. You need to record them for you own protection. But a notarized BOS and it's your land.

I will be the first to admit that I was born into a situation that was better than 90% of people in this country. There were certainly people who grew up with more money, but few that had better parents.

amen to this. I didn't like my childhood too much, especially compared to my friends. But now I thank my parents every chance I get.

Seems like our population of mentally ill ballooned when parents put down the paddle.

They hsve to credit society on success as well as failure right? They can’t point to accountability of the individual for both good results and bad!

I state very regularly how fortunate I was to have both parents present and active in their children’s development. And additionally I grew up in small town rural east TN which I also give credit to. Yes I credit my parents but I tip my hat to it takes a village to raise a child also. They didn’t step in when my parents were inactive. The bastards narc’d me out and got me beaten! Which I normally richly deserved.

My mother was a business woman and well known for being very plain spoken, and as a strict disciplinarian at work. Kind of a female Nick Saban. Not the easiest person to work for.

One day, someone who knew her jokingly asked my brother if our mother ever gave us a timeout. He said that she took time out from whatever she was doing to whip the living sh!t out of us. I never held it against her because it kept us out of trouble as we grew up. I never wanted to disappoint my folks.

Think of what makes someone strap a bomb to their body, walk into a crowd of innocent people, and blow themselves up. Or drive a truck down a busy sidewalk killing as many innocent people as possible.

That will lead you in a better direction.

That's whole different dynamic that I think has nothing to do with mass shootings by Americans against Americans, particularly kids and young adults. Totally different set of motivations. Polar opposites really. One is done in the name of religion, one is done in spite of religion.

The root cause in these kids is lack of value in human life.

Not true at all. The roots are practically identical.

My mom was similar although she rarely whipped us, that was a task she left up to dad. My dad is the most easy going non-confrontational guy you ever want to meet but you knew you were in trouble when you heard him say "damn it boy come here" after mom briefed him on the days events.

The best words we could hear when we screwed up were “wait till your father gets home”. Thank God moms not gonna kill us. She’s just gonna goad dad into beating us severely.
