Gerald Williams clarification

who besides me thinks that he is the meanest looking guy we have on the team? his body frame, speed, stats, and 4 star ranking would get anyone excited. putting his face to these numbers makes him scary imo.

Just because he looks mean and has a 4 star ranking does not mean he will amount to anything IMO...We have had a heck of a lot of 4 star players that never left the bench...Let's just hope he makes this grade to get in and even more than that makes the ones during the year so he can play because if all he does is gets to practice it will do us no good at all and we have had some problems with grades and good players in the past.

Gerald Williams graduated h.s. with my grandfather....I've heard great stories about them walking to school together before there was a bus system......

I heard that one too....5 miles in the snow every day...up hill both ways :)

GJ, my point is that there isn't a person on here that can answer your first question because he hasn't played a down of SEC football and what he has done at JUCO means jack crap. We got 3 JUCO's last year that we all supposed to contribute immediately and be super stars based on the informed opinions of those on this board. Maybe 2 turned out ok by the end of the year and one was a complete bust.

You know, when outside of mahelona has a juco transfer worked out well for us?

Well Gibril Wilson off the top of my head. Mondre Dickerson was pretty decent too. I'm sure there is a couple more I would just have to go back and look. Nevin Mckenzie has looked pretty good thus far, Willingham has a good shot, as well as Gerald Williams for that matter.

Dale Carter, Chuck Smith, Chris Mimms, Leonard Little, Julian Battle, Gibril Wilson, to name a few.

Thats a pretty good list. Although I don't know if you can really count Leonard Little. He was committed to Tennessee out of high school and only spent the one year in JC to become eligible. But I guess if I count a guy like Gerald Williams whos been committed to UT since high school too, I would technically have to count Little as a JC guy as well (even though its taken Williams three years) lol. Stretching it a little though...

Well, he came from JUCO so I consider him a JUCO...

I could only dream G Williams would be as effective as Little though.

Dave Thomas, I believe is his name was a JC DB who came with the same class as Dale Carter. He never played a down, and was eventually kicked off the team after a couple of years. He went on to win a super bowl ring with the Cowboys; go figure.

Isn't that the guy who found Wendys

Wow! According to the list of new players reporting to fall practice, Gerald Williams is listed at 260lbs. I thought he was 240. I can't see him remaining at linebacker at 260. I bet he is definitely DE bound.

Also lists Rod Wilks at 220 and Aaron Douglas at 280. Not sure the accuracy of this list or these 2 guys will be in for position changes as well.

I noticed this also and I agree with what you are saying.

There are plenty of NFL LB's that play around 260lbs.

If Douglas really is 280 he will either be a blcoking TE or move to OT, unless of course he can still run pretty fast.
