You don't understand. I've got friends who live in Atlanta and I've got friends in Huntsville and Birmingham, and I've got friends on the Florida panhandle. And they all agree on one thing: UGA fans are the most insufferable, smug dickwads on the planet when they have a decent team. It's been that way since I was in school 20 years ago. God I really can't stand them. They're worse than Alabama and Florida fans by a damn sight.

No, you don’t understand. Fans are fans. I’ve been all over the US and being military I put up with fans of every school. Get over it. They’re relishing their moment.

Yea, Uncle Lou know all about this taunting Tennessee fans. All you have to do is listen to him, however he does have some Vol fans that he is friends with.:thud:

It's ironic that the worse football team we become the more loathsome the other teams in the conference are. We used to hate just Bama and Florida. Since we lost to all SEC teams we played last year we now hate everybody. We need to come up with a list of all the teams we hate so there is no confusion.

I live in Atlanta as well. My neighbor is a huge Dog fan. He looked me in the eye the other day and said it was going to be hell for Tech, Florida and UT based on Kirby’s record setting recruiting. Dude is seriously annoying. I congratulated him on picking up a nice class and then reminded him that the current team will be losing 31 seniors plus some juniors. He replied that it did not matter with the level of recruiting that Kirby is doing.
Typical response. And not just from him.

The overwhelming majority of Tennessee fans who travel to away games are affable good sports who are generous to a fault. We spend freely and seldom burden ourselves with regret or grudges. Perhaps fans of rival SEC teams have little regard or affection for us, but their chambers of commerce and local businesses love us. Outside of the SEC, we are very well regarded, coveted visitors eagerly wooed to return. Oregon fans and local businesses think we are exemplary - what CFB fans should be. These past 40 years, I've often been among the hordes who comprise the Big Orange caravan of traveling Tennessee fans. I know first hand of what I post.

Not all, but most Vols fans are good in word and deed. Perhaps, you are the evil tempered POS that shoved and cursed my wife as she stood by the seat row to allow others to exit before making her way to her seat. If so, you're the exception to the rule as Tennessee fans go and should stay home and watch the Vols on TV. You're unfit to be out in public.

You have a different thought process than I do. I have loathed UGA since about the beginning of time. Add in Bammer and UF, along with Notre Dame, and I am there. Of course, UK and Vandy deserve to be derided just because of who they are. Arky, Mizzou, and TAMU can take a flying leap along with SC. The Mississippi schools and LSU don't bother me as much, but it depends on who they are playing as to whether I will root for them. I like Aubie a little bit more at this time because I know one of their starters, but I really love them when they beat Bammer like they did this year. USC, UCLA, and Miami are way down on my list, too. Not a big fan of Texas either. Ohio State has always been low on my list but they've been moved down even further since Urban "I want to spend more time with my family" Meyer got there. Michigan, meh. Can't stand Penn State but even more so since James Franklin is there. I'm sure there are others I loathe and it has nothing to do with our decade of mediocrity.

I've been on this earth for more than six decades, traveled extensively, born witness to Vols fans behavior throughout, and I haven't posted any ridicule of UGA or its fans to this thread.

If you have any character, you ought to be feeling a bit of an ass, but then, as you aver, not all Tennessee fans are admirable. Your example proves the exception. Your demeanor belies your bitter soul. Pitiable you are.

It's actually pretty straightforward and simple to understand. If you play in a weak conference, your wins against other conference teams don't mean much. Conference strength is usually determined by how teams in your own conference fare in meaningful OOC games.

It's just simply a variant of the big fish in the little pond mentality - or why the PAC and the big10 are sitting out the the FCS playoffs while the SEC has two representatives. It probably doesn't help that both those conferences decided to commit playoff suicide by playing nine conference games.

Exactly my sentiments as well.

This is an example why that SEC pride BS needs to be shown the door during bowl season.

I hope GA and Bama get absolutely humiliated. No way those guys would be pulling for the Vols if the situation was reversed.
