Outside Linebacker! Bwahahahahaha :eek:lol:::thud:::eek:lol:

Kongbo ain't no DE thats for sure, he'll be even more useless at OLB, and this looks like a bad signal we're switching to a 3-4. I don't know how you pull that off with this roster. The answer is, you don't.

Congrats on your 4000 likes. I was going to give you one, but it screwed up your number.

Besides, I don't necessarily agree with you. With a 3/4, he might be great. How do you figure he wouldn't fit in there? Huge LB's?--check!

Thanks for not screwing up that number. I'd be more interested to hear why in the world anybody thinks this move will be successful? This is not an easy transition to make, especially for somebody with zero experience at LB. Looks like an admission by the staff that he can't play End so what the hell!

Switching positions.. from the right side of the bench to the middle of the bench to make room for KMac.

Kongbo lacks coaching. He immediately locks up with a defender off every snap, with no idea how to shed a defender and no idea where the ball is going until too late. Every snap is a personal one-on-one shoving match that gets neutralized. Guys like Barnett see right past the defender and treat them like a temporary obstacle to be avoided on their way to the QB or runner.

that's spot on

In his defense , none of these players are living up to the hype. They never had a coach to coach them up or teach them

In his offense, he is the one who made the brags. I prefer guys who just let their playing do the talking, but if they back up the talk, more power to them. Kongbo hasn't come close to doing that.

What gets me is everyone acting shocked about the 3-4. Look at the HC and DC.

He’s a similar player to McKenzie... a What could have been

Yup, a lot of star power on that DL. Unfortunately, not much to show for it. Tuttle is good when healthy, Vickers and Taylor are solid, and Phillips shows flashes. Hopefully we will see some improvement throughout the roster with better development and coaching.

He and Kahlil are gonna surprise a lot of people. I think the new staff makes draft picks out of them both.

Nothing wrong with working on footwork and movement. This staff will be brutally honest with him in the spring.

he would be very smart to get at a comfortable playing weight and stay at DE. I've seen nothing that would convince me that he could play OLB. Now, Taylor is a different story - he should thrive at OLB.

Needs to join a Roller Derby team.....very good at skating backwards.

So this is how we treat a kid that is a supposed "VFL"???? As far as I can tell, VFL only applkes to someone who performs to the saysfaction of some idiots on a message board who are eager to throw them under the bus as soon as they have a problem. That's some wholesome family atmosphere - can't imagine why ALL recruits wouldn't want to come here and be critiqued by "fans" like you. Nice work

Was the guy very good at DE, no but at least he is trying to put in the work to get better and contribute. If he doesnt improve a lot I will say he will be on the bench but at least he tried!

He has had his chances but just plays soft. Nowhere to put a huge guy like that really. Looks like ___ plays like____.

What I missed, and I think most of us are missing, is he is working.

He's investing time to improve. Consider what this team has just been through. Lack of direction and leadership. Yet, he's traveling to get trained and improve.

I didn't notice him as being slow, I did notice him not using technique very well and he definitely did not show any discipline in staying in his pass rush lanes.

I played DE thru JV in highschool, then was too small and changed positions for varsity. DE number 1 responsibility, regardless or pass or run play, is to "set the edge". In a word, containment. Nothing gets outside your outside shoulder. Ever. When it does, unless you are double teamed or steamrolled in the earhole by a pulling guard....you are likely getting called to the sideline while somebody else contains for a few plays.

Kongbo was terrible at this. Honestly, it would be different somewhat if he got mucho sacks and lost contain sometimes because he was always right on top of the QB...truth is he almost never got sacks and still lost contain on run plays all the time.

When a RB or scrambling QB gets outside the DE, the cornerback is long gone running with or being blocked by a WR...its nearly always a BIG gain for the offense, and usually puts the RB in a 1 on 1 situation with a safety or OLB... if the RB can make that 1 man miss, or a TE or lineman gets downfield to block....off to the races. Touchdown.

Tl,dr....Kongbos job is containment. He sucked at it last year...hopefully with better coaching and discipline...

this makes the opposite of sense if he was moving back inside I could buy that. Him moving to OLB would mean we are going to a 3-4 a defense in which he would thrive as a DE.. he is a DT/DE tweener (malik jackson) not a DE/LB tweener (curt magittt)

This ^

I think Kongbo would be best suited to add another 20 lbs and move back inside to DT. 2nd position might be blocking TE or lead FB in goal line situations. Just can't see him fitting in and playing well at other positions. The DE project hasn't worked and there no way on earth he can move well enough to play LB in the SEC.
