Report: Austin Thomas not coming to UT. Staying at LSU

Who knew of this fella before his name was brought up...or even his job description? Are there many more out there who have the same job? Probably...and it's likely there are some who'd be more effective. I dunno. Do you? I'd suggest some of you might want to settle down about this "meltdown" business, at least until CJP's staff has been fully assembled. I'm going to remain positive until we've witnessed at least a couple of games in 2018. For those of you who've just got to pee-pee on everyone's Cheerios every time there's a turn of events in Big Orange Country, please just find some other bowls to yellow up.

Exactly. I would be willing to bet the vast majority of people on here had to google him. I know I did.

Doesn't mean he is not good at what he does or it's not important. Also it shows how unorganized athletic department is and why we have been struggling for so long.

With all the new positions that help a program run efficiently you may not know all the people behind scenes, but does not make position not important.

So what? You cannot get everyone you want. Sometimes you miss. At least they tried.

Lol, if with all that has gone on especially with this coach search, and this does not add to the incompetence shown I don't know what to say to show you proof of incompetence of this administration!!! He (Austin Thomas) wanted to come here yet they some how can not get their ducks in a row to make it happen?!! LSU wanted to keep him it's not like he was not good at what he does and so we should not have wanted him... and they did want him, yet here we are...

A very surface level response. You have no clue about his demands or what UT's position was. What if he wanted a million dollars a year? By no means am I saying he was. Just pointing out the belief we crapped the bed is wild speculation.

No, because he already resigned at LSU, and was already letting media know he was hired. So yes it would at least be very likely UT did not know what he did at LSU and tell him what they wanted or altered after he resigned what they wanted of him.

Why would he have resigned from LSU unless a deal with UT was all but signed? As much as I want to give UT the benefit of the doubt here, I cannot see this as anything but a lose-lose outcome and though the impact on our recruiting might be minimal it still raises questions of competence and integrity on the Hill.

Yeah tight. Do you even think somebody like Thomas would even be on our radar under Currie and Butch? If so, dream on. Yes our AD has shown massive incompetence in the past. This wasnt that big of a deal. If you want to make a mountain out of an ant hill then have at it

If he resigned at LSU before he had the deal here then he is too stupid to want. Think about it.

Agreed. He may have been the best recruiter on the staff. I think this deal not getting done is another sign of the dumpster fire our athletic department is. They knew what his role was at LSU. There's no reason this deal shouldn't have been done. If they didn't want him in a similar role to what he did at LSU, they shouldn't have wasted his time.

This exactly. How does this not get done when both sides want it to happen and should've had the particulars worked out already?

I got a Bad Feeling Fulmer is the Football Coach & Pruitt is his Lackey Yes Man- If True this will make the Butch Jones Era look like the Golden Age of Tennessee Football...

You actually got a like on that ridiculous pile of dog **** comment. Wow! :eek:lol:

I don't see how anyone watching the Pruitt presser would ever conclude he is a yes man to anyone. If you read up on his background, at one point he went to the home of a HS coach in order to land a job. That's a bold move, and not something a suck up would do. More important, he was often filmed on the sideline at Alabama yelling back at Saban.

Sorry, but your post is next level stupid...:no::no:

Pruitt may turn out to be a lousy head coach, but he is not and never will be a yes man.

Not so fast, my friend. He may very well have decided it was time to move on from LSU and look for a new job, and UT was his preferred choice. He may also have other offers on his desk.

He was told he had to water the bamboo daily and that stopped everything dead in its tracks.

Dern crappy bamboo should have never been planted in Tennessee.

VFL...GBO!!!

:good!:
Spot on, UT is gonna UT even the easy things! :banghead2:

hahaha We'll see about that. Now the guy is running the AD for cryin out loud. If that aint a curse I don't know what is. :lolabove:

That guy running the AD, put out the dumpster fire that Currie started and got us a coach who can coach and recruit. Fulmer is introducing CJP to the area and area schools. He's Fulmer's guy because as he stated, he reminds him a lot of himself. The team has already bought in, so should you. Recruits that never even considered UT are now clamoring to visit. What 5* recruit was looking at us (other than Cade)? Look at the OL offers (biggest need). The staff is full of great recruiters and teachers (Rumph and UF's DL). Fulmer isn't a problem, but has began the revitalization of this program. A program he's poured into for most of his life.
