So let me see if I have the grumorz straight.

Pruitt wants to hand pick his staff (no Tee) or coach the playoffs. For UT both are deal breakers. Tee = come together, HC = stabilize, HC+staff= championship.

Theory 1:
So Gruden has second thoughts and calls Phil, Phil and Bev breakoff talks in NYC and go to meet Gruden with his amended requests. Sexton leaves NYC (per Tony Basilio twitter).

Alternate theory: Gruden has been in the whole time and Phil is interviewing DC's

I'm going with theory 1. Tee is the most important hire for Phil, (Les will work if Gruden is no), VFL and fans want Tee. Phil wants Tee. Tee only comes for a proven HC like Les or Gruden

Personally, I think a combo of both.

Just saw that Austin Peay HC Healy just got a 5 year deal with more $$ and more $$ for assistants...earlier in the week Memphis gave Norvell more $ and an extension....could it be that we are giving our other state institutions more money to justify what we are about to pay for our big whale?
