Been at work haven't been able to get on here til now. Been busy people are already starting Christmas parties and dinners. They're buying mucho meats, whole beef tenderloins. These rich folk like to celebrate the whole month lol. Not much to celebrate on here. I'll always be Vol fan and back our team, as I know you will too. We may not agree and like everything this administration does but this players deserve our full support.
Hey Fish: are they going to run the whole Tenderloin special like usual?

I think you should stop holding out for a home run when coordinators are turning us down. This program is at SMU levels

The way UT’s Athletic department is managed, they may want to seriously consider a self-imposed SMU death penalty. I haven’t seen incompetence at this level anywhere other than the U.S. Congress.

I've been very clear with where my brain is on this whole set of shenanigans. I compartmentalize, to allow one side to go as deep as can go, where my other side stays solidly on the balance of hope and skepticism. (the latter brain gets to drive).

There is a solid medium between your hypothetical scenarios. I wrote it all out once, and I'm not going to do it again. MrMax publishes it frequently in the Gruden thread guide.

I do believe that there were a handful of power players who wanted to influence this coaching search. I believe the knowledge and information used to influence public opinion has evolved significantly since 2012, and to a larger extent 2008. I do believe that this was being leveraged by someone, for some purpose.

Like it or not, what happened with Schiano was powerful. Beaver played his part in that. Others did too. And it was all possible because the consumers refused to accept something so far beneath their expectations.

That was the Beaver's stated purpose, and I believe he accomplished his mission.

That was his stated purpose after it started looking less and less likely that Gruden was coming. You’re very eager to dismiss the “these people don’t miss” type statements as being more broad, or indicative of intention, than you likely should be. Likely because you want to believe him. And again, I fully get that. I wanted to believe him too, but whereas you approached his arrival with cautious optimism - willing to use reason (and you seem very reasonable) to justify his statements and overall narrative to fit some larger momentum in something we will very likely never know true, concrete details of - I approached his arrival with skeptical optimism (in the sense that what he was saying, I wanted said result but wouldn’t truly allow myself to believe what he was implying about himself and role).

It can be one or the other. It can also be a gray area like you said. But I was merely pointing out that extremes do exist in the situation and given what we’ve been given, one extreme is just as valid as the other at this point.

The reason I'm so fed up and down on Fulmers potential list of candidates, I'm getting old!! I don't want to wait 5 more years for my vols to be relevant again.
We needed a homerun hire in the worst way. If it takes 5 years it would mean over15 years since rockytop truly celebrated success. I was hopeing for a quick turn around selfishly for my own sake.
