To all the people who are saying the coach has to have HC experience think about his.

1. Fulmer wasn't a head coach.
2. Mark Richt wasn't a head coach.
3. Jimbo Fisher wasn't a head coach.
4. Bob Stoops wasn't a head coach.
5. Dabo Swinney wasn't even a coordinator.
6. Kirby Smart wasn't a head coach.
7. Lincoln Riley wasn't a head coach.

The list goes on 3 of those 4 are in the Playoff.

I’m not opposed to Pruitt because it’s not Gruden. I don’t like the idea of Pruitt as our HC because I think we could do better. I am not opposed to him coming as a coordinator.

Don’t lump everyone into the same category.

Speak for yourself. A career coordinator does not excite me. Period. We are a pinnacle program, not a landing spot for on-the-job training and the Tennessee lottery.

As with everything on this board this is your opinion, don't find reasons to put that into other people's opinions. On Pruitt, we will see if he is hired and how he will do.

It's absurd. All those schools, schools in the playoff, did it. But here at Tennessee where we just lost 8 games, we are too good for that.

If you think the man can coach then go ahead.

I'd rather go for potential all day than someone who has proven they are a run of the mill coach like Miles or Doeren.

Good point. I own a print shop. I could use a guy to run this 100K piece of equipment. I could go get someone with experience and made money for another company. Plan B would be to get a cheaper guy, who has seen a printer a time or two. He also was able to pick up a piece of paper and read it. Tough decision.

Maybe he was and is trying to better himself. He also has said that he is wanting a chance to run a program which we are giving him. As for the buyout if he is happy and the fanbase gets behind him I dont think he will want to leave. So my question is will you or will you not back him as a head coach?

It’s not about him wanting to leave, but UT realizing (as they did with Butch) what a bad hire he is and having to shell out another 8-9 million to have him leave. If he wants to prove himself a different kind of dude than his history indicates, then he takes the job and can be fired “at will” with no parachute.

Gruden will never coach a down as the HC for UTK. Time to let that seep in peeps.

I don't think he honestly will either, but why do you and people like you think that you have to save anyone in here? Just go along with your business, nobody needs you to bring them back into reality or anything. And honestly, does it really matter if there are people in a thread about Jon Gruden who so desperately want it to happen exists? Does that in some way hurt the coaching hire process?
