One of our best is an Alabama alum Andy, Cutcliffe. If we eliminated coaches that weren’t alums we would be one of the first schools to ever do that, and there’s a reason it’d be a first, because it isn’t a smart thing to do.

I understand your frustration, as I had huge aspirations for this hire, but Pruitt is solid. We will be getting a hell of a coach and recruiter.

Cutcliffe started at Tennessee very early in his career and worked his way up. And he was never our head coach. I don’t care where our assistants are from. Plus Cut never played college football. He was never associated with the Alabama football program in any way.

This hire has see you in 4-5 years written all over it. Extremely disappointing to watch helplessly while incompetence takes something so wonderful and rot it from the inside out. Darn shame.

He’s been one of the best DCs in the nation at three different stops. If you’re against a coordinator hire, I get it. But he’s as legit a DC as there is, is a top ranked recruiter (with other great recruiters likely to join him, knows the SEC, and has had great success with multiple major programs.

So you wouldn’t hire Nick Sagan if we had the chance? Lol. Come on man. He played ball at Kent state, I’m sure Alabama doesn’t care much in that regards.

Then he’s here for 4-5 years and the program is stable again. Either way we are the last school that matters to make a hire.

We have to get it done now.

You may be willing to settle for a bammer just to “get it done” but I’m not... There is NOTHING that suggests he would “stabilize the program”. We’re taking a huge risk in hiring anyone with no HC experience. If we’re taking that risk I would rather take it with someone else.

Well, tomorrow we will know, or we better, if it's Gruden, name me one Vol fan that will complain and claim they're going to sell their tickets and boxes, etc., if it's not, as Hawk said, "5 more years in the desert" looks likely, I hope not, but the fan base won't get there unless the wins appear. Either way, I hope Philip has done a thorough job of doing what's right and we're satisfied either way on the Gruden question. And it needs to be addressed even if it's after the presser if it's not him. I don't see Philip going up to the podium and saying "Well, this wasn't our first choice but ...". As long as that happens even if's a day or so, it has to be addressed. Otherwise, conflicts remain, as well as they may anyway, but resolving them early is the way to begin. Good luck tomorrow everyone, no matter your wishes for our coach, I think we'll have something resolved by the end of the day. I'm probably wrong, that would be the way to bet, but I don't see all this as a lost cause no matter the outcome....yall did good.

I want JG, but my mindset has changed. In a negotiation the other side has to want something you are offering. If they don't want what you are selling you are F'd, move on. JG either wants to be a VFL or not. Everything else is minutia and negotiating. At this point he seema to not want it. That puts us in a position of begging. F that. On to better things.
Ok but don’t settle for a dam coordinator when Les Miles has said he’s more than interested it’s not rocket science

Pruitt is no Nick Saban. Lets see what he does by the time he's 60 years old.

I’m not suggesting he is. My point is that we don’t need to focus completely on where they played ball. We need to hire the best candidate available that wants to be here. If you swung and missed with some of the bigger names, Pruitt is a helluva fall back.

Or at least take that risk with someone with Tennessee ties. I have heard there a few of them.

Kent State is not Alabama’s rival! That’s a ridiculous comparison. Saban’s ONLY tie to Alabama is his HC tenure.
