So Simonton's report says that both Steele and Tucker were flown to NYC for second interviews, including the Chancellor.

And 95% of you all are freaking because we're about to hire Steele. Based on Simonton's report, there is literally the exact same chance that we hire Tucker as we hire Steele.

Steele hire would be hard to take seeing all of the other coaches available. Steele don't see how CF can look at Steele's record as HC and make such a low tier hire as important as this hire is to UT football.

He’s a vfl. He values that most. Surely he won’t let us down since he’s a vfl right?

Currie was always going to hire Schiano and Fulmer was always going to hire Steele.

What a complete joke of a program we’re stuck with. Just unbelievable that these idiots continue to make us the laughing stock of CFB.

None of them care about winning or at the very least they’re too stupid to do their jobs properly.

No amount of consolations will get me on board with Steele. It is an unacceptable hire imo, considering how the search has gone, the alternatives available, and the unwillingness to make a big time hire.

We're all fans of UT and we all deserve better than to be trotted on.
No big time coaches wanted the job. Yes there was the Leach talk but that would have required us to have John Currie leading the AD and I would rather have Fulmer doing that. Currie was an arrogant a$$ and I’m not totally sold he would have gotten leach. Why did he wait so long to call him? Why does the legend Bill Snyder despise him? Why did he run off frank Martin? Sure Currie may have brought Leach in but Leach May have quickly grown to hate him just like every other coach that has had to deal with Currie.

Tee is far more than a consolation. He’s one of if not the best recruiter in the country. Steele is 60 years old. Maybe he coaches for 5 years and Tee takes over once he’s experienced. I think that could actually work out really well.

Steele’s record at Baylor doesn’t mean too much to me. Tennessee is a different caliber of job where he can hire ace staff members and recruit really well. But he’s going to have to be allowed to prove he can do that. If the fans don’t support him then he will definitely fail. I’m willing to trust Fulmer and his hire and give it a couple years. BUT that’s all contingent on the staff he surrounds himself with.

Dude this is UT. We know it's a two headed coin....

We need to place our faith in Fulmer. NO ONE cares about this program more than Fulmer. Nobody on this site has put the time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, and anything else worth sacrificing on the line for this program like Fulmer has.

I have complete trust and faith in him to craft a vision and solution for the program. I'm ready to support any staff.

The report said they flew Steele to NY it doesn't say that they flew Tucker. The language is different, not sure if Tucker flew on his own dime or if he was flown there by UT. Simonton did not say.

Just choose one! If it’s down to those three. Choose one and go. They are the same in my book.

One thing about the Tee stuff. Are we trying to force Tee as an OC on a coach? That’s very troubling to me. Fulmer has no business choosing the head coaches assistants or coordinators.

I would agree, but for the fact that Steele is Fulmers boy.

That's just for show- it's been Steele all along, we just didn't want to believe it. Hubbs has talked about him the whole time. The goose was cooked already.

Tee is the only saving grace of this hire if he is willing to come. Even then, Steele is a terrible hire. I don't get it.

I think Fulmer's overestimating how much equity he's built back up with the fanbase. It's not enough to sell Kevin Steele to the fans.

Not saying Steele is the man for the job, but obviously no other coach did much at Baylor during this time period:

Chuck Reedy (Big 12) (1996)
1996 Reedy 4–7 1–7 6th South
Dave Roberts (Big 12) (1997–1998)
1997 Roberts 2–9 1–7 6th South
1998 Roberts 2–9 1–7 6th South
Kevin Steele (Big 12) (1999–2002)
1999 Steele 1–10 0–8 6th South
2000 Steele 2–9 0–8 6th South
2001 Steele 3–8 0–8 6th South
2002 Steele 3–9 1–7 6th South
Guy Morriss (Big 12) (2003–2007)
2003 Morriss 3–9 1–7 6th South
2004 Morriss 3–8 1–7 6th South
2005 Morriss 5–6 2–6 5th South
2006 Morriss 4–8 3–5 T-5th South
2007 Morriss 3–9 0–8 6th South
Art Briles (Big 12) (2008–2015)
2008 Briles 4–8 2–6 T-5th South
2009 Briles 4–8 1–7 6th South

So why hire him? A bunch of trash coaches at a trash program on that list

A week and a half ago Willie Taggart was considered too much of a risk - an "up and comer" - for the Tennessee job on this board but now Florida State hires him and they're running circles around us.

Calm down, guys.

Yeah, can't imagine not wanting him while we are about to get Steele
