Every other school got it right, identify your guy and get it done but no we dilly dilly around and chat with 12 guys and wind up with the one that fell on the floor.

He interviewed Morris.

I am not sure there was ever anything there with Leach. Also, I have heard several people who have an opinion I respect say the same thing I said about Leach. Good coach, bad fit for this school and this league. If we pulled Brohm's offer as has been reported then he would be a fool to sit back down at the table with this program. It would give anyone cold feet.

Dude you are going down on this ship alone.

Put this in the FF but thought maybe a few here might want to see the breakdown

It appears we are dead set on hiring a defensive coach and I have done some research on why I believe we are.

A vast majority of power coaches have offensive backgrounds. About 2:1

Nearly all "sexy" hires made are offensive coaches.

Now let's look at the breakdown for each of the 5 conferences:

PAC12: 3 defensive head coaches
ACC: 1 defensive head coach
Big10: 6 defensive head coaches
Big12: 1 defensive head coach

So that is Right at 75% of the coaches in those 4 leagues.

But now let's look at the SEC. Good or bad Saban is shaping the future of this league. He's making the coaching turnover have an alarming rate.

Right now the SEC has 7 out 12 head coaches that are defensive minded.

The last 2 Sexy hires were just fired in BB and KS and they were very popular offensive guys when hired.

Jones and JM are two more failed offensive coaches.

Smart has proven to be a HR now but wasn't at the time of his hire.

None is the rest of these were sexy hires.

Stoops has done very well.

Odom did a great job this year.

Muschamp had a great year.

Coach O even had a decent year.

Mason is really the only recent defensive hire to not have success and one could argue he has done just fine.

So to finalize the point. While the rest of the nation keeps hiring offensive guys the SEC is showing that hiring a defensive guy is the way to go and with 2 teams in rhe playoff it's hard to argue with that.

A week and a half ago Willie Taggart was considered too much of a risk - an "up and comer" - for the Tennessee job on this board but now Florida State hires him and they're running circles around us.

Calm down, guys.

Any hire made by another school = great hire

VN way.

So if we hire a DC for HC, who would you like to see as an offensive coordinator? (For conversation's sake, exclude Tee Martin)

How am I supposed to calm down when we're getting ready to hire Kevin Steele?!?

Where's Ziti??! He's got to have some of those sandwiches left!

So do we think Taggart is a piece of crap now? He left Oregon after 1 season.

Did he thumb his nose at all of their traditions while he was there? Did he have posters of Leinart and Reggie B in the facilities? Is he gonna make fun of them when he leaves?
