Mel only makes 800k. I could def see him leaving if we could give him 1.5mil+ for a DC spot.

If for head coach I actually like him more than Venables. John Fox is much like Butch and undermines all defensive staff. Take that out he has had tremendous success everywhere.

If we're are going defense and coordinator I wonder why he hasn't thought about Marion Hobby for HC I think he is a much better choice than Steele.

VolNation in full freak out mode today, I see. IMHO... I wouldn't want to go back to Haslam/Currie. Let this play out before panicking.

The take that schiano is better than Steele is truly disgraceful. Those who believe that are the ones that the national media called out for having faux outrage about his potential enabling of a pedophile.

Schiano is a scumbag that would have ruined this program. The players would have hated him, good recruits wouldn’t have come here because it would be easy to point to his actions at Penn State and Tampa bay to keep people from here, and the athletic department would have been in shambles. People were threatening to quit over hiring him.

Steele would be a terrible hire. He sounds like a pathetic guy but I will at least be able to watch the team with a clean conscience knowing that he was a decent man. Hell I won’t even be that mad about him because this tells me Phil is just going to be Alvarez 2.0. I’ll be interested to see the staff that he pulls together if Steele is indeed the man.

If Phil hires Steele, it's another middle finger back at the fans. The difference is it will come from the people's choice for AD. That would confusing, ironic and typical Tennessee.

There is nothing about a Steele hire that could possibly be spun as good for UT now or after the HC hire is made. They should have killed talk about him being a possible hire right after Phil was hired as AD. It's no different than Gruden and Currie letting that talk continue until it all blew up. It's the same routine with the media and all their lies, hedging their bets, best guesses and other BS.

Phil's abilities as an AD or on full display. Make a well reasoned, good hire or kiss it all goodbye.

I cannot believe this is actually happening. How can any rational person think that hiring Kevin Steele is a good idea? I will always be a fan of UT, but I won't follow the program near as closely. This is a garbage hire that no one can legitimately justify. Listen to Phil's press conference it has always been Steele. The University of Tennessee is actually going to make the worse hire of any program including non power 5 programs.

I know almost everyone is worried about a possible Kevin Steele HC tenure so I thought I would drop this to help ease the transition....

At least it is stainless... :/

If it’s Steele go ahead and announce this thing. Not really worried about Peyton’s day. Who gives a turd really?

We are working on a month without a coach. Absolutely inexcusable.

Probably not the case, but haven't all the finalist gotten multiple interviews... maybe the second interview with Steele does not gaurantee a hire?....we are all just going off Hubbs and his input regarding Schiano, right?

Leach has been the only reasonably attainable coach that almost everyone agreed on. Phil just doesn't want to make rogue Currie look right. Its a damn shame.
