Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVII

Isn’t Tennessee supposed to have some of the best in state talent it’s had in years in the upcoming few recruiting cycles? Seems like the state is improving quickly with the in state talent.

I just looked at the ESPN 300 for 2018:

Tennessee had 36
Louisiana had 50
Alabama had 38

For comparison use only!

Some of you guys have a severe reading comprehension problem. The statement clearly said “at least” $5 million. Guess what? $100 million per year meets the threshold of at least $5 million per year.

I try to not be very snippy, but maybe you should wait to comment until you’ve read through and caught up on all the subsequent posts.

Les Miles colors his hair. And the only reason I think Phil won't hire him is age. CPF and Les aren't THAT far apart. And CPF almost laughed at the idea of himself returning to coaching (due to age). I could be totally wrong. But Les seems like a backup plan to me.

Tuesday might be interesting. Gruden til it aint.

I hope Phil has already reached out to Leach. In my opinion he’s the best offensive mind in the sport not named Chip Kelly:

On the flip side, Fulmer has shown he’s a prideful man. I don’t see him hiring someone that Currie had inked (allegedly).

False... Lane Kiffin is the best offensive mind in the sport.

All this Gruden crap cost us Dan Mullen!

So you’re saying that wanting a Gruden who will instantly bring kids begging to play at Tennessee kept us from hiring / overpaying another mediocre that instead cost or rivals millions to retain said mediocre coach for their football team ? Well then I feel much better about it now 😂

If it isnt Gruden, here would be my list:

Peterson
Shaw
Patterson
Leach
Brohm

I know many of those might not be available. But. I would rally booster support and raise the money to go big. And then I would put a hefty raise in front of them and make them turn it down.

Obviously, not everybody on that list warrants really big money.

The defensive coordinator for the Titans is 80 years old....

Hubbs posted that Fulmer was in Atlanta this morning and met with Steele and was also supposed to meet with Georgias DC. There is no way he was in Atlanta and Cincinatti so someone has bad info. I really want to believe Gruden is happening but Hubbs keeps mentioning Steele just like he did with Schiano.

They have these things called planes that go really fast and can move a person from one city to another very quickly

This is why we can’t have nice things...

Can erebody just step back and chill a bit, about everything?

Like someone posted above, #ComeTogether. :huggy:

Things deteriorated very quickly. It seems to have turned into the standard FF (you're stupid/no, you're stupid) thread.

Maybe things will be better in the A.M.

The Vols, per sources, are preparing to offer at least a five-year deal worth $25 million or more to its next head coach on the heels of suspending, with plans to fire, John Currie on Friday morning.

Brice

Notice the words “at least a five-year deal worth $25 million or more”.

Les Miles would be a great hire, plus with a great staff we could definitely improve next year. You guys get caught up on one person too much. Miles by himself is kinda blah, but if it is true that he will take a lot less money and let us build an insane staff, including Tee, then that starts checking off a lot of boxes that we all wanted. And it would be a huge upgrade over Butch and "the best staff in America."

Miles got ran off at LSU, but he's a winner. He has won at the highest level. Now that he has had the chance to step back, realize what he needed to improve on, and become more open minded, I would fully support Miles as head coach with a great staff. Also, the reason his recruits were 50% in-state at LSU was because he did not need to recruit outside the state, but he is still a good recruiter. Cade Mays even said us hiring him would be a "game changer," plus when you add Tee that's a good combo deal.

Excuse me though, Gruden soon!

Les looks very much like a coach who has peaked...and would continue his slide down the back of the mountain if hired by UT.

Thanks. Crazy that you can bring factual info to this board and if it does not fit the narrative that he is currently meeting with UT you get slammed. I appreciate your words. I’ll not make the mistake of releasing the other information that I have.

Sorry

If anything it saved us from Dan Mullen. Why would we want him?? I’d rather have Schiano than Mullen.

If you’ve seen the movie.. I’m sure you’re familiar with the quote...

Didn’t post the full gif out of respect for those who would find it distasteful
