Tee is interested in the Vols

Jesus H Christ the race thing has been beaten to death. CFB and the NFL are 75% African American. Would it make you happy if that went to 100% so we couldn’t even have a discussion? Race has nothing to do with anything. It’s simply who he is. He is an incredible athlete. And because of that his coach uses his skill set to win games because he is such a better athlete than everyone else. That is the very reason he isn’t as polished as the other two or three guys as it relates to the NFL. His athletic ability has undoubtedly hindered his progress as a pocket passer because Petrino wants to win. Not groom NFL guys. Race is irrelevant

How did we even get to Lamar Jackson and the race card? I don’t even know what thread I’m in anymore

Please explain exactly how Tee would be a better coach than Leach. He's the best coach Texas Tech or Washington State have ever had.

This conversation has went off the tracks but in a nutshell....
Tee is inexperienced. His upside is unlimited because of his ability to recruit, his knowledge of offense, and his ability to relate to young players. Add the fact that he is a TN man if you want.
But TN is at a crucial fork in the road now. If this one doesn’t work out then the damage is catastrophic. So if you’re willing to take the risk then hire him. But you can’t deny it IS A RISK. No matter what color the guy is.

That's the only reason why Tee would be considered. He'd be the perfect guy to groom like Fisher.

How much grooming does he need? He's been an OC for two years and both years he's done an excellent job of using the fire power that he's recruited. How much Of did Dabo have? How much did Filmed have? You 1st need the fan base united and energized. He's the man. Someone that can recruit on a high level. He's the man. Someone who can relate to the players of today and who knows what it means to walk in their shoes. He's the man.

Has nothing to do with black or white. You don’t need a mock to know his game. He’s an athlete who runs. And he doesn’t play a top defense all year long.
Darnold will go one
Rosen two
Watch and see

So NFL guys think he is worthy of a top 5 pick at the least, but you know better huh?

I'm sure you do think he is just an "athlete" who runs. Despite the 3k plus passing the last two years.

55% is inaccurate, 60% is ok, and 65% is accurate. It's that simple. Once again, you're only looking at race. When you're ready to talk about football and not skin pigmentation, I would be more than happy to have those conversations.

He throws a ton of deep passes though.

I really can’t believe race comes up in sports. That is the one place that it’s never even been an issue. Sports has always been a brotherhood that race didn’t even matter. I played every sport in HS and collegiate baseball and race was never EVER an issue in any locker room I’ve ever been in.

Since he is not qualified, you have to make some sort of last stand argument. Pathetic.

Ok. I’ll concede. If a draft mock says he is then he is. I’m sure they know more than me. It’s just my opinion that his athletic ability being so far above his usual competition that he hasn’t needed the NFL prototypical passing plays. But I’m not saying he isn’t a good player. He is prob the best player in College Football. I just seriously doubt he goes before two if not three other guys. But I’m it gonna go search NFL draft mocks to prove my point. You’re right. Im wrong. Now let’s talk about Tee and TN. What do you like about Tee?

I’m not making a last stand. I don’t think Tee is at all qualified. That’s always been my stance. I’m just sick of everybody thinking it’s because he is black. That’s irrelevant.

I’ll take him as a backup in Seattle.

Yeah I got that after I had already posted. Damn these folks are sensitive to race. Wtf? The guy hasn’t coached a single game and all of a sudden he should be the HC at TN. Incredibly risky with all the other options out there. How can anyone not see that

I'd like to see Miles come in as head coach and Tee in as an associate head coach in waiting or what ever you want to call it :) and as OC of course

groom him for the HC job,his star is on the rise

Really like the idea of Tee Martin coming back to Knoxville; however, I just wonder without any previous HC experience if the pressure cooker he would inherit would be too much. Now if he was OC under someone like Les Miles or Kevin Sumlin that would be a better situation. I'd certainly support him either way.

Here’s a big difference.
OC’s manage young men who are students. All of which came from High schools which are much smaller than the college scene.
Head Coaches manage older professionals. Many of which have more experience than the HC and have seen things done many different ways. Not to mention their livelihoods depend on you making good decisions. That’s a world of difference

Ok. I agree he is risky. You can't win big if you don't gamble though. Others have done it and won big. He has all the qualities I would want in a rising coach.
