Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVII

After listening to the Swain podcast with Al Wilson, something stood out to me.

Al said the team had to hsve leadership that the players believed in.

I think the 2 "successful" seasons Butch had here wasn't because of his leadership but in spite of his lack of it.

I think we had some strong team leaders in Dobbs and Barnett. I feel the team rallied around those 2 and maybe JRM and Kamara when things got tough.

After those guys left, it exposed Butch for the weak leader he was and things fell apart.

We need a leader, someone with a vision and a love for UT.

Ain't but 1 guy checks all those boxes imo.

I'm thinkin' we need to send you some money my man. This is absolutely "off the chart" writing. Freak, how can we get him paid?

I think we could start by charging those folks that cannot read the bold text and then they quote the entire post...🤔😁

Here's the problem with the Gruden and control issue.

Fulmer's not going to give it up either. CPF is a boss. He's going to run it like a boss. Total control for Gruden is not going to fit into that - at least I can't see it.

I hope that Kiffin manages to land in Arkansas or Auburn if Malzahn leaves. We need that guy in the SEC.

Is that acceptable, non-Kiffin fans? Can we at least get him back in the SEC? He would strengthen the conference, imo.

Holy crap... Wish we could believe these things!

We're back on the plane tracking, boys and girls! :dance2:
Total waste of time. If a plane was being used, it would be one not trackable on the "regular" tracking sites. Tail numbers are blocked with a request to the FAA by the owner.
Phillips and Jordan's plane is not in any way connected.
Remember what AV said about trying to track planes.

Did you, or did I, have a small stroke during that second sentence? I was reading along and then BAM! Not sure what happened...😁

Isn't quite a bit of the stuff we do a total waste of time? It may be a waste, but it is enjoyable in the 'what if' sense.

Manning and Haslam are together on this. He isn’t going to burn his bridge with the guy that can help him with some NFL ownership.

Imo, Peyton’s true colors is the worst revelation to come out of this, but now we know.

Why he’d hitch his wagon to that guy, I don’t understand. You’d think that Peyton, who has such a great football mind, would respect an owner who runs their franchise well. That’s not the Browns!
Is there not another NFL owner he could buddy up to besides the guy who’s team hasn’t won a game in two years?

****quote edited ****

The only person that will lose any control of the football program now is Phillip Fulmer.

Will he give it up?
Will say, I am biased in my support of Fulmer. Check my stats/not necessarily posts. That out of the way ...

I think the purported initial 2 year term, says something and he will give the new HC as much control as he needs to be successful.

Fulmer experienced the detioriation of his control in his later years. I believe he alluded to it being difficult. I know I talked to him at a booster function at the Yacht Club on Lake Norman, many years ago. Hamilton was enamored with raising $$ and building stuff. Haslam reeled Hamilton in like a fish.

I truly believe he will focus on getting the best staff in place for the long haul. I think there will be a short term plan and a long term plan relative to coaching staff and future UTAD leadership. He will try and help with our recruits where he can in the interim.

Once he has the football program staffed, he will focus on the other sports. He wants all sports to be championship caliber.

He wants to reset the foundation, reestablish the championship traditions, create an "executive resource" plan that has been missing and step down to enjoy his grandkids and Tennessee's resurgence.

JMO, biased as it may be.
