I agree, IF PF gets the AD job even if it's with an interim title, quality coaches will be lining up to submit themselves for the position. The SEC will quake in fear as no longer will UT be the school for unworthy coaches to hang out for 4 or 5 years and collect their buyout.

Any Chance that Fulmer and his faction have been working this whole time on a Gruden deal and finally got the word that if they Axe Currie, Make Fulmer AD, & accept whatever terms and staff Gruden has set before them then the deal is done. Athletic Department finally pulling trigger......???

I've wondered....

If you want to kick Jimmy Haslam in the pecker and make a statement then you hire Gruden

And Pawl Finebaum. It would be a twofer.

He just grudgingly announced breaking news that Phil was in as UTAD. Had to mention that Phil was passed over for Currie.

UT is about to have to spend a ton of money on all these buyouts and Phil’s new contract. There has to be some big boosters not named Haslam throwing some money in.

But professionally, from his wallet, he's often cozying up a little closer to Haslam (as well as a bunch of other well-to-do and well-connected people who have nothing to do with this Tennessee in-house tussle).
Except this doesn't make any sense. Between his salary as a player, numerous PJ stores, and ongoing sponsorships Peyton is set for life financially. Professionally, he could work in the front office for the Colts, Titans, Saints, or Broncos tomorrow.

I think Peyton may be a bit more complicated than that.

I think personally, from his heart, he's standing right beside Phil.

But professionally, from his wallet, he's often cozying up a little closer to Haslam (as well as a bunch of other well-to-do and well-connected people who have nothing to do with this Tennessee in-house tussle).

And astutely, from his grey matter, he's smart enough to keep all of that kind of in doubt and fuzzy.

Peyton's no dummy. He is complicated.

Peyton's good with me till beyond a reasonable doubt and we're not there yet.

Omaha!!

One of John Currie's absolute biggest and most basic mistakes was, he didn't manage expectations with the fan base. He didn't (1) take the time to listen, to learn our mood, to figure out what we expected and desired, nor (2) communicate back to us what he saw as realistic, feasible.

Not his only mistake, but one of his biggest.

I expect Phil not to make that mistake. I expect one of his first official acts to be communicating with us, letting us know he has an idea what we're looking for, and beginning to manage our expectations to keep things realistic.

Note: that last part may be painful, especially for those of us 100% locked in on JG. We'll have to wait and see.

Anyone repost Atlanta's last post about plan a and plan b?

OrangeWayOfLife:
You know what, I’m beginning to think this week was actually plan B. Plan A was Haslam gets on board, Plan B was war

To OrangeWayofLife:
This is a doozie of a post man. Has me intrigued and impressed with your sleuthing skills.

You think things are righted for now?

We've taken a big step. Haslam and Currie were two of the major forces in ousting Phil.

Looks like Phil's knife is still sharp. I think he's coming in to restore order. This could happen.
