Has anyone considered that UT football was entirely controlled by legacy coaches for 32 years, from '76 - '08? Maybe, just maybe, Haslam wanted a piece of that pie and set it in motion with the ouster of Fulmer. The Hasbeens have never been told no, not one they've acquiesced to. These self-proclaimed successes only upped the ante for how far the narrative would be pushed. Even at the expense of Ayres Hall crumbling, it's a message.

I've seen wilder conspiracies, but thought I'd keep with the times.

Okay, so the limit of your strategic vision is getting Fulmer, Blackburn, or Davis hired as AD.

That's it.

You can see no further than that. I mean, man, we all see that. We've all become aware that Currie is fired, and that he needs to be replaced. And we all already knew about Fulmer and Blackburn as good options, now Davis has been added to the mix.

But if that's the extent of your understanding of the way ahead, you're running just as blind as the rest of us.

And if that's all there is, fine. Good. Let's get one of those three gentlemen, and move on to finding the best coach we can.

That means there is no Booster Battle going on in the background, not really, and that we're not really curtailing the Haslam influence on the program in any permanent or long-term way.

But if that's true, let's stop pretending that Beav and Bubba and even AV have been anything more than rabble rousers.

That's all I'm asking. For clarity about these supposed behind-the-scenes moves. Or to push them aside for good.

Dude, what exactly are you looking for? A detailed flow chart with names, dates, and times? Of course there's a booster battle. The battle is that Haslam has been a tin-pot dictator running the AD's office, and various other boosters want to end that. Could they be making a play to set up their own little oligarchy? Maybe. Or maybe they want a return to the way it should be, which is an AD who is not 100% beholden to anyone, with numerous booster behind the scenes with influence, but no one booster vain enough to expect total authority.

A new, independent AD picks us a new football coach, and that's it. Will Haslam give up and call it a day? Who knows. Maybe there will be future fights to maintain a new status quo.

Since you brought up the Revolution metaphor, did our founders draft the Articles of Confederation in 1776 in Philadelphia? Or the Constitution? Did they even know they would have the chance to draft either? No, they only knew that they had had enough of King George III.

That means there is no Booster Battle going on in the background, not really, and that we're not really curtailing the Haslam influence on the program in any permanent or long-term way.

It comes down to what I said earlier. No one really knows exactly what's going on, and the story/theory that's coming from Beaver, Bubba and the little info AV has brought, seems to be playing out right before us.... as much as any other theory.

I think it's left up to you whether you believe, or how much you believe, in that theory.

Dude, what exactly are you looking for? A detailed flow chart with names, dates, and times? Of course there's a booster battle. The battle is that Haslam has been a tin-pot dictator running the AD's office, and various other boosters want to end that. Could they be making a play to set up their own little oligarchy? Maybe. Or maybe they want a return to the way it should be, which is an AD who is not 100% beholden to anyone, with numerous booster behind the scenes with influence, but no one booster vain enough to expect total authority.

A new, independent AD picks us a new football coach, and that's it. Will Haslam give up and call it a day? Who knows. Maybe there will be future fights to maintain a new status quo.

Since you brought up the Revolution metaphor, did our founders draft the Articles of Confederation in 1776 in Philadelphia? Or the Constitution? Did they even know they would have the chance to draft either? No, they only knew that they had had enough of King George III.

What if since Sunday’s Schiano mess, Fulmer, Manning, Blackburn, Ergen boosters, and Gruden all have been in the the ear of Bev. What if she fired Currie to announce Gruden today at 4pm.What if Bev has been refusing Currie’s efforts so she could make this announcement. What if it’s all finally happening.
