I really need to be convinced that Leach is a good idea. He hasn’t won that much (compare him to Patterson for instance), I don’t like the system and don’t think it is conducive to signing players with real NFL aspirations, and he has never really been considered for a major job and I think there is a reason for that.

JMO, of course

What do you need to know other than that he is the best option based on what we have available at this point?

He beat both teams in the Pac 12 championship this year...with half their talent. His system scores tons of points, and he has never been somewhere that he could draw top talent easily. His QB at WS is a freaking walk on and has set records. Who gives a damn. Everybody has a system, Butch's was stupid and sucked and still scored a lot of points, what do you think one of the top offensive minds in Football is going to do with the kind of talent Butch had? He needs a good defensive staff just like any offensive minded head coach needs, unfortunately the one he has now, which is pretty good, is going to stay in Pullman. This is a great hire.

Leach is one of the defining offensive minds of this generation in CFB. One of the things I like about him is the bond he makes with his QBs. He tries to make a point not to chew out his QB#1 in front of the rest of the team. He knows his offense flows through the QB, so he does all he can to build them up and support them, or at least take them aside and give them the a** chewing in private so that the QB doesn’t lose face in front of the rest of the team.

We’d need to get him a good defensive staff, of course. But he’ll make us competitive and we’ll give teams headaches on offense.

Also, he’s not the type to get super pissy with the media and doesn’t just spout stupid cliches all the time.

Somebody convince me on Leach please. Don’t know much about him other than his entertaining press conferences.

"Mike Leach is the all-time winnest coach in Texas Texas history, had 10 consecutive winning seasons at Tech, he helped Kentucky(!) break 42 SEC records as OC, won 27 games over last three seasons at Washington State with former walk-on QB" - SEC Mike

Gotta think some of these stud Tennessee high school WR like Scurry are going to love a Leach offense. Would be curious what Trevor Lawrence thinks too, though system probably keeps him away

I remember emailing Mike Hamilton to hire him please before we hired Bozo.... Hamilton didn’t have the balls... even tho he had nearly beaten us while at Ky, this is back when losing to ky was impossible for you young guys

Get him a good defense and this is great...

No purple face screaming robot person--- We will have fun again.

I'm kind of curious as to why they met in Los Angeles. Why not Seattle or Portland or San Francisco, any number of places closer to Pullman? Is there anyone else in Los Angeles that we might have an interest in?

He was recruiting there and was already in town iirc.

Tee is there as an option, but he'd be busy preparing for his game, I'd assume?

Yeah that thought crossed my mind too about Tee.

Plus there was this:

IF Leach says yes, why would you even hesitate, though?

I'm sure this has been posted. I was exhausted last night and went to bed early..
